If this league is going to survive, they need to go from April to late August. I haven't watched a game since football started.
hoke- to alter or manipulate so as to give a deceptively or superficially improved quality or value.
soccer in general is stupid.
Read about the whole aggregate goal format. It will drive you insane.
That's how they do it in Europe, genius.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
The boisterous sellout crowd in a driving Seattle rain (and across the league) would suggest otherwise...
It's not possible for league to not go head to head w football. Level of passion is not yet developed with fan bases to predict large crowds in northern cities during winter. NFL only has to contend w 2-3 homes games plus potential playoffs in frigid conditions. Compare that to the number of MLS homes games and you see the issue.
that's because you're an idiot.
If you understood anything about soccer, you can see why teams force the offense when down. or try to play to a draw when at home.
It's not that difficult, but apparently for most americans, they just can't grasp strategy that isn't transparent.
Quone, to quone something. Like a patient gets difficult you quone them.
Or look at the crowds that Portland drew all season with a shitty team. MLS model is working just fine.
I played the game at a high level for 20 years. We usually just tried to win.
MLS is the most effectively-run league in the USA that's for sure. Only the NFL is close, and that's mostly because people will love it no matter what they do.

Sounders are making it interesting.
Really hope they knot it up and go to PKs.
This is America. Just make it a best of 3. Higher seeded team hosts games 2 and 3. 4 teams make the playoffs from each conference.
There's your PK.
So you want them to have a shorter season, but a potentially longer playoff? Makes sense.
So what's the possible results with this game? I haven't been following it too closely
You never played.
This country was built by people who worked hard then went home and had just a few too many every night. Then went back to work.
For all the talk about B1G refs, consider that David Beckham could pull out a gun and shoot somebody right now and MLS would let it slide to keep him in the final.
MLS/General soccer fans on this board going to come out like fucking orcs when they see this thread

This year's playoff system actually makes sense. You couldn't say that about the MLS for the past few years.
As of right now, Seattle would have to score 3 more goals to advance. Not likely to happen. LA will be in the final against Houston.
If they managed to somehow get to 4-1 tonight what would happen?
30 mins of extra time followed by penalty kicks if necessary.
Wouldn't LA still go through on away goals?
This is the point where you become a jackass.
MLS does not use the away goal rule.
By the way, NCAA hockey used to use the two-game total goal format for early round tournament games.
