And yes, it's fine and dandy to honor the military with these games, but it would be nice for us to honor the people that matter the most to MSU more often-our fanbase, with more big preseason games at the Breslin.
Location: Mumbai, India
ESPN will figure out a way to televise it. I don't think 4 games going on at once would impact the TV audience's viewing experience much it'd have a bigger impact if you were actually at the venue. And with the giant score board at Cowboy stadium they could show all four games at once on it. Since the primary focus of this is to provide something for the 12 or so military bases around Dallas I think it's an awesome idea.
More importantly it's another very high profile event that we'd be involved in. We haven't had the best on-court success in these games yet, but if you were a recruit you'd only be thinking about the giant stage you'd get to play on.
Good luck getting teams to come! Nobody wants to travel to other teams' gyms any more. It's all neutral sites.
Big time Non-Con programs don't want to come into the Breslin to play.
Honoring our fans (whatever that means) @tBrez is more important than honoring the military on Veteran's Day weekend? Yup, let's make it all about you.
I read the news today, oh boy .. ..
About a lucky man who made the grade
the breslin isn't big enough to get 4 games going simultaneously...they could only get 3 going, but that's only if they use the Berk. The problem with that is that there isn't anyway to get the amount of seating that this type of set up deserves.
Photo on strike.
What about whistles?
What about them? Have you never been in a gym where more than one game was going on simultaneously? It's not a problem.
This means no Carrier Classic for MSU...
I love how Hollis comes up with these new and cool things to do for the basketball program and the Spartan brand overall. However, I wish he would come up with something special for football. I understand that it probably has to do with not wanting to lose out on a home football game and the revenue that produces. Still, it would be so cool if he did something for football.
How long until the Blue Wall gives Dave Brandon credit for this since he was so "innovative" at scheduling the scUM-Bama game at Cowboys Stadium?
Opponents would be Army, Navy and Air Force plus one like VMI. Hollis is a genius and Izzo wants to honor military. I love it and told him it was a great idea the other day.
What about IM West?
I can see half court games with check balls being a great solution to the space problem, really pack them in.
Have one of the four games be between service academies or similar, and put that on ESPNU.
If we can trick Coach Krzyzewski into saying his own name backwards, perhaps he will be pushed back to the fifth dimension
Get Jerry world to donate 50% of proceeds to wounded warriors or something - espn can air a Psa like they did with carrier classic.
Who gives a crap what they think?
They'll be there for the free buffet.
I'm not supposed to say anything, but there are currently talks to hold a football game at this undisclosed location...
MIS? That would be pretty cool. Not sure we could fill the grand stands though, unless it were a MSU-UM game...
The lawn area here is also in the mix for a football game. This will be a very exclusive Spartan Fund event though. Izzo hates fudge...he vetoed the idea for hoops.
If it were against U of M it would sell out because all the raceway regulars will still come.
Hollis is legit.
What a tremendous idea that would be cool as hell to be a part of.
thank you, I knew it was in the future wasn't sure when though.
The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.
I think Hollis is reaching with this one. It's all about the soldiers though so I can't say anything bad about this, but 4 games at once? This is college basketball right? Not an AAU tournament. I guess it would be cool to be there and have your choice of games but that's about it.
