The project would create a two-level addition, including a recruitment center on the concourse level, upgraded locker rooms and team spaces, media rooms and shell space for future restroom and concession areas, as well as maintenance needs, according to a memo sent to the board by MSU Vice President for Finance and Operations Fred Poston.
This would be great. A dedicated area for recruits and updated locker rooms would be a huge boost. Thanks for posting.
Originally this was supposed to be a $10 million project.
MSU is playing leapfrog. Nice.

This administration is just not screwing around. I love it. Hope the BoT approves it.
Good, they won't have to rip out the gas station on the east side of the stadium
Let me get this down, $100 million. Oh wait, I have a better idea. Instead of $100 million, how about I send you a hobo's dick cheese?
So what I'm reading is that the garage is gonna get a dyno and the gas pumps are gonna get electric hookups and E85?!?
BUT WHAT ABOUT BRICK
I want Spartan Stadium to get to at least 80,000 seats. I hope that's part of the plans.
No... I want the gameday atmosphere to improve for the 75,005 who are already there.
For the love of Trevor...™
Whatever they do at the North end, they need to get rid of the buses that pull right up to the gate when the game is over. It turns into a jam pile when the buses start to pull away. If it is a need to acccomadate handicapped visitors then they should move this to the east side of the stadium.
Won't ever happen. I want that extra 5,000 to be a section where you can actually cheer without people yelling at you once you are out of college.
Crazy money in college football these days.
If you are forceful with the old codgers, they shut up. Trust me...
Sit down!! I can't see the F*#$ING GAME!
Better get used to me standing up, it's gonna be a long 60 minutes.
here here......better, not bigger: yeah, I said it.
"This has been a test of the Green-Seated Assbag Fan Detection System. Is is ONLY a test."
Very excited to see what they do with this project. Is the consensus that if this is approved they will begin construction following the season to have them ready for 2013?
It would be awesome if they put a roof top viewing deck or something with some tables and consessions for the recruits to hang out w/ their families if they aren't on the field.
I believe that an upgrade of SS, much like when B-Ball moved into the Bres, will usher in an era of dominance in football that will consistently put the Spartans in the top ten nationally. The first step was the scoreboards. Next, the North End-zone upgrade. Brick all around and eventually a seating expansion.
It's the missing link.
This. Improve the gameday experience to the point where the stadium is packed every game, not just the couple games a year we could fill an extra 5,000 to 10,000 seats. Worry about expansion at that point. I think if we just keep moving around the stadium in a clockwise motion that this will work out perfectly. This north endzone facility. Then east side renovations with another Spartan Club and new upper concourse to match west side, no need for more suites. Renovate lower concourse and bathrooms completely. Then when we do the south side renovation we will be ready for some more seats. That is a future I would like to live in.

I thought the 300 foot tall Spartan statue was supposed to go on the west side of the stadium?
It's going to be like the Statue of Liberty in Ghostbusters, it will walk around and be controlled by men in matching jumpsuits in the head.
No way. Hearing you complain about all the minor details (there's a GAP!) during a renovation like that would be unbearable.
Other than dick measuring, I'm not sure the point of seat expansion.
MSU added tons of revenue with pricing changes. Plus the changes help fill the least desirable seats, which are actually pretty good relative to other massive stadiums.
Last Friday proved that if you schedule a quality game, you'll get an amazing environment. Scoreboards and sound system certainly help with both adding to the environment and sound reflection. You don't need more seats to do this -- it's already done.
Or a helipad to fly in recruits?
