Or a helipad to fly in recruits?
Yeah, shit might actually get done correctly, that would be a shame wouldn't it.
They got done correctly becuase you bitched about it?
I'm sure the south side will get a brick facade and some minor upgrades when they build out the east side.
If we get a seat expansion, I expect it to come from putting a deck on the South endzone, not the North. I thought I read once that a deck won't go up in the North end because it would obstruct a view of the trees that line the Red Cedar.

Haha. This is totally true.
I yelled back at a few people who were telling me and my buddies to sit down.
I said, "REMEMBER WHEN YOU USED TO YELL AT PEOPLE LIKE YOU?!"
Freaking great. Lots of laughs. They shut up. And stood up.
No, but apparently wanting them to is a crime around here.
Oh I see.
ditto....that was a huge mess Friday. I wound up going back into the stadium to walk around the logjam.
That's what I'm hearing. They wouldn't bring this to the board unless they could demonstrate how they were going to pay for this. I've heard fundraising has gone very well and the added revenue from the added required season ticket donations (as well as extremely strong season ticket sales) has helped a lot. I haven't heard what the construction timeline is though. Wondering if this might be a two year project?
At this point I think any seat expansion would likely come from additional suites and club seating on the East Side. That wouldn't be a large net increase, but it would add solid revenue generation possibilities.
Will this reduce parking in Lot A?
Really hope they go ALL OUT on those new locker rooms. Take a look on youtube at some of the new facilities/locker rooms going up around college football these days. Truly unreal some of the stuff going on there, Ipads in lockers and stuff like that. The locker room will be a HUGE selling point for the new recruits when they make a gameday visit for a game, and what would be the icing on the cake would be to have that roof deck open for the families and recruits to look over SS. Get that done!
The presentation from the Aug 9th construction is below. Pages 3 and 4 show some upcoming projects, there are a few of athletic note.

I think that is a good idea. I also think long term it woudl be kind of cool if they added seating on the North end similar to this section at Qwest Field in Seattle. The fact that they are building the "shell" for future restrooms and concourses may be indicative that this is in the plan. I know there have been a lot of talk that they don't want to obstruct the view North, but they've kind of already done that with the addition of the new boards/video ribbon on the side. Besides this type of expansion would probably better suit potential seat demand and would also probably be a lot more cost effective than building another deck on the south side. Besides, what the heck are they gonna do with the new mega video board if they expand that end?
I would vote no on trying to compete with seating capacity in other stadiums.
I think we should build the most awesome recruiting facility in the MidWest. Allowing parents and recruits to tailgate on top of the North end structure they're creating would be cool.
I would love a HUGE Sparty statue. Couldn't we build one AROUND the smoke stack? This way his head could let out a "green plume" of smoke when we score?
Also, bricking the outside of the stadium sounds good HOWEVER I was really hoping that outside the stadium designers would give it more of a "SPARTAN" look. I actually like the WHITE of our concrete instead of red brick.
Any word on a smokestack replacement?
I love the plan. Improvements to media and recruiting will pay dividends for years to come
Above/around the 5th biggest scoreboard in the world/country/universe?
I think we all need some of whatever it is that you're smoking.
Hollis has pretty much said that if seats were added they would be in the form of some type of upper deck to the sides of the new videoboard on the south side, but that nothing was being planned for that yet.
"The webpage, titled "Championships Built On Memberships," says the north end zone expansion "is a necessary enhancement to modernize Spartan Stadium.""
Price of tickets going up...
Word. Let's have at least 5 straight seasons of selling out the seats we have before we talk about adding more.
I hope that the board approves this. It's about time that Spartan Stadium gets the facelift it has needed for a long time.
