Glad to see we're working to keep our real rivals on the schedule!
I find it funny that some UMer's are saying ND is "chickening out".
The reason ND is considering keeping us and Purdue on their schedule is because our rivalries have more history than ND and UM.
"You’ll see a high degree of cooperation," Hollis said. "We’re both interested in keeping this series intact."
Good to hear this from Hollis. The Megaphone Rivalry is one of the best.
They helped to put us on the map, and we'll help to take them off.
ND wants to keep playing night games on real national tv with good ratings, NBC won't let them do it very often so they have to score as many on the road as they can.
35,600 posts and counting since 09-09-2002. tRCMB Dead Pool Commissioner.
NBC is opposed to good tv ratings ? That does explain some things.
Also funny because UM chickened out on the series 50 or so years ago.
One of my all time favorite MSU/ND moments
The MSU Spartans enrage Fighting Irish fans by planting their flag at ND Stadium in South Bend after the September 17, 2005 game. Notre Dame hopes to exact revenge this year on September 23 in East Lansing.
Most local affiliates hate having their news preempted. That's when they make the most money on running ads.
Signature for rent
Tits used those exact words in some UM alum event today. He's also upset that ND is still playing us, or might be. I am all for playing ND for that reason alone.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
How often do you see Notre Lame on NBC at night? They play USC at night this year.
PS Their ratings on NBC suck in general. Their numbers were way up last season with them winning, up 69 percent...They were absolutely shit ratings the last number of seasons:
Notre Dame's seven games on NBC this past season averaged 4.4 million viewers and a 2.8 household rating, up 69 percent and 67 percent, respectively, according to the network.
PPS Look how bad their ratings were the year before:
NBC Sinks to Lowest Notre Dame Rating Ever: The October 8 Air Force/Notre Dame game on NBC earned a paltry 1.1 and 1.587 million viewers, down 39% in ratings and 40% in viewership from NBC’s third Notre Dame telecast last year (STAN/ND: 1.8, 2.641M), and down 62% and 64%, respectively, from 2009 (WSH/ND: 2.9, 4.447M). The telecast ranks as the lowest rated Notre Dame telecast ever on NBC. The previous low was a 1.2 for Duke/Notre Dame in November 2007.
MSU needs to play up the rivalry, a rivalry long in history and respect. ND has been very good for MSU.
Hollis needs to rub this in and come out and state that ND is the most important game on our schedule and that above all else, ND is the one team he will fight to ensure we play each and every year.
what is the year we play bama,nd,oregon.
2016. Aren't we planning on taking Oregon off the schedule?

2016 @Bama, EMU, Furman, ND
Also Notice the @USF game has been moved to 2018...
Oregon is 2014 and 2015. We do not have ND, Bama and Oregon scheduled in the same year, nor did we ever.
Can't play 4 NC games in 2016, unless they get some kind of exemption.

Except our contract with them is for 4 years on, 2 years off, 4 on, 2 off, etc. So the "each and every year" would ring quite hollow.
Per the Rexrode article, Furman will likely be cut.
ND doesn't play many home games at night because NBC has about 4 hours of late Saturday afternoon programming they milk out of every ND home game. NBC doesn't have anything else to fill that time with, except for non regular events like the Ryder Cup.
ABC sticks ND into a Saturday night slot as often as possible, but ABC has college football on every Saturday night. If they are going to have football on anyway, it might as well be ND.
And if their rating suck so bad why did NBC last month just extend their contract through 2025.
