I think it says EJ (J looks like a V).
Plus didn't they retire Magic and Kelser's numbers soon after the 79 championship?
For some reason, I remember Skiles and Vincent (Sam) wearing those warmups, so to me, it's gotta be before 1986.
Lastly, it would be interesting to see how large these are. If they were intended for a person as tall as Magic, then whoever buys these will have to get them tailored if they're gonna wear 'em (unless they're basketball player sized).
Must be real. The fonts are really big.
The stripe design was popular in the 1979-85 ear. Houston Astros stuff so maybe the right era
I don't recall the warm up pants the team wore in 1979 having the stripes in the middle of the leg.

Just thinkin' and wonderin' aloud here: Were there any All-Star type games played at State in the early-mid 80's that would've meant Earvin would be wearing that style of warm-up? Or maybe Dr. Tucker's Basketball Camp? I'm just trying to figure out possibilities, which have to include the seller trying to add $$ to the value of a still-pretty-awesome MSU warm-up by writing EJ 33 on the tag.

I love that the RCMB is on the case!! It looks like the warm-up has stalled on eBay at 100 bucks.
Bunny and Agis,
if I buy the outfitm do you guys want to have duplicates made so we can go to games dressed like that? Might be a great way to get beat up -by the home team. They are pretty ugly but cool in a strange way
What if magic offered the #33 to Jabari Parker as a recruiting play?
EJ 33 in drymark on the tag means absolutely nothing and is obviously part of the Ruse.
No way, Magic wore that even if it is authentic MSU
I have that warm up . . . can I join you?
For sure SportsBaron, the more the merrier. I can't promise your safety if we start wearing them, like I said earlier, I think a bad game at MSU and we would get beat up by our own fans they are so ugly...
That being said, I still plan on trying to win this one to add to the collection!
No one will replace Magic...I don't care how good Parker is
Also on the 85/6 and 86/7 teams there was no #33 or EJ or EV....
Also with any other MSU GU items Ihave seen I have only seen numbers and no inititals on things.....
My opinion is the sharpie was added to make it look like they were MAgics..... Just MOO
I found my 1985 MSU warm up. I purchased this from an MSU surplus garage sale prior to a Green White football game many years ago.
The jackets and pants were sold separately and not in sets.
The jacket has two tags behind the front snaps. A Medalist size tag and a VanDervoort's distributor tag. My Medalist tag has 85 6 handwritten and my Vandervoort has 45 written on it. There is a faint 45 written in the collar as well. I believe my jacket was Carlton Valentine's.
The pants have the same two tags in the waist. Mine has 85-8 written on the Medalist.
The photo of the eBay tag is showing the pants and the Medalist tag is missing. Lots of possible theories. The Medalist tag could have been intentionally removed if it had conflicting information to a forged EJ 33. Or, tags often are missing from use and laundry and the 33 is actually the pants size since the size tag was missing.
Can we sell Debunking eBay to the History Channel as a new reality show?

PM me if you have a "Fire & Ice" poster with Respert and Snow. THAT I would pay a pretty penny for.
I have one. Make me an offer!
What kind of condition are we talking?
Pretty good. It's in a cheap frame but you might want to reframe it. It's at my parents' house, hanging in my old room. I'm heading over there next week so I'll try to get it (if I remember). PM me your email and I'll get back with you. Where are you located?
Kind of cool... but $71!!! REALLY? I had a bid in for $25 not knowing what I would ever do with this... but $71???
