Oh, you'll lose. It's pretty funny that you're throwing the word "if" around though. You have a better chance of waking up tomorrow morning to Eva Angelina naked sitting in your desk chair than you do of winning this appeal.
54B sees people with your exact mindset every semester of every year and one by one they tell you angry, fledgling parking law gurus to suck their dick as they deny your appeals following a three minute hearing.

I honestly don't care one way or the other about the outcome of your issue here; I'm in this thread because it's amusing. But your comments aren't consistent. You said in your first post that you'd fight the ticket even if it was just for $10, because it's the principle. Here, you say you wouldn't care. You make similar inconsistent remarks in other parts of this thread.
So which is it, principle or price?
And btw, I put your comment about contracts having 'tiny terms' in bold because attorneys DO have to read all of the language of a contract. Otherwise, your client could get screwed and you get sued and/or grieved.
I'm really not trying to hassle you here, seriously, but you have a long way to go before I'd be comfortable having you represent me. At least in criminal defense or contract work.
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. - Groucho Marx
Sounds like you are going to be a great lawyer
I obviously would fight it, just as I do to almost all parking tickets. I have gotten 2 dismissed due to just showing up for an appeal. But if I lost, I wouldn't care about the $10, because I knew I would be at fault for the $10. There was nothing inconsistent about my posts. The $25 is much worse, because as I said that is a normal meter and there is no sign saying that it is a no parking zone.
And you learn in the basics of contracts class that if someone throws in a tiny clause into a contract, that it will not be upheld if it a reasonable person would not see it.
I love all the shots about me being a lawyer. Last time I checked forming arguments on the basis of garbage laws was the entire point of being a lawyer.

You care that much about $25.
"Put your mother in a straight-jacket you punk ass white boy." ~ Mike Tyson
Except you're not arguing, you're whining about it being somebody else's fault.
Good luck, though. You might get the fine reduced, but only if you get rid of the whiny little bitch attitude.
It is somebody else's fault. It is their fault that the machine was broken and not fixed. I had the money ready. Don't tell me to move, as parking is packed as it is and people are in a hurry. It is their fault they enforce the policy strictly.
My posts come off as whining only because these douchebags only try to screw over students any chance they get.
Omg MSU DPS actually enforces their policies. How dare they actually enforce their policies. There are plenty of things to be mad at DPS for. Your story isn't one of them.
I can't wait to see you lose a court case and then come on here and say it wasn't fair because the judge followed the law too closely.
You're sounding like a huge bitch here btw.
Remind yourself. Nobody built like you, you design yourself.
"It is somebody else's fault" - You are definitely going to be a lawyer
"It is their fault that the machine was broken and not fixed." - That's true, good thing they have policies in place to keep order and expectation in case that were to happen.
"I had the money ready." - Congrats.
"Don't tell me to move, as parking is packed as it is and people are in a hurry." - If you know parking is tight, plan your schedule better in case it takes a while to find a legal parking space.
"It is their fault they enforce the policy strictly." - Such a lawyer.
"My posts come off as whining only because these douchebags only try to screw over students any chance they get." - Show some proof that the parking attendant knew for sure that you were a student. Also, show me proof that students are ticketed in these situations and non-students are not.
Be sure to open and close with this. They'll love it. You'll likely be given a Free Parking Anywhere pass, and a key to the City.
Let me guess, you want to be a lawyer because it 'pays well'.
Yeah.. I hate people that won't let shit slide..
Back when I was at MSU they didn't even have the P with the cross out in the meter. The meter would just blink FAIL and you had to know not to park there at the risk of a ticket. Lots of people have been burned by it, but they know better the next time. Also, your original post said you were in a hurry and "going to prove a point" by parking there, which says to me you were looking to be a prick about this from the get go. From the responses and voting ITT, you've succeeded in those efforts.
I care. What I gather from this thread, is that there a lot of people who think that just because a person in authority made a law and people enforce it, they can do no wrong.
If you think handing out a more expensive ticket just because there is a tiny P that is barely visible is okay, you need to check your balls. When it is an area where normally parking is fine, on the first floor of a parking lot, and there is no sign saying it is a no parking zone, give me a $10 ticket.
it's tRCMB. He'll likely come on a week from today saying he won his appeal then spent the weekend in Florida where he carded rounds of 68 and 67 at the local municipal course.
as a MSU employee for over 13 years let me tell you that they target every single car they can, student, non-student, or employee. how in the hell do you think DPPS can drive such nice cars. If you park illegally on this campus prepare to get a ticket
Kutcher Nuget said...A friend of mine parked at a meter on campus, put in money, and when she got back the meter read "FAIL" and she had a ticket. She complained and said that she had put money in, but it somehow must have failed while she was parked there. They waived her ticket. You could lie and say it must have failed while you were parked there. Only way I see you getting out of this one.
That is a win win. There's a chance you get off AND it may light a fire to get it fixed. Plus it doesn't promote vandalism of meter.

So you're still confused over the fact that it has nothing to do with the tiny p (unless maybe this has to do with you compensating for your own tiny P, I'll let everyone else come to their own conclusions about that) It has to do with the fact that a failed meter is a no parking zone, regardless of notice or anything, that's the ordinance, you broke it, you owe them a fine in doing so and being caught.
Did you ever stop to realize that maybe they never get that meter fixed because jackasses like you are always parked there, and having it be no parking allows whoever services the meters to have access to it to fix it? Probably not, because you're too busy having a hissy fit about the world being against you. I really hope you do poorly on the bar exam, for the sake of any potential clients you could have.
lmao, and I thought I was the most irate one in this thread.
I think I will do just fine, since I already have multiple job offers for the summer.
What most confuses me is what prompted you to self-title yourself "parking-douchebag" in your own thread?
I mean, someone has to get the real lawyers their coffee, might as well be this prickbag.
Says the guy douchey enough to have the side of his face as his avatar. I see you are mad for no reason. At least you could cheer me up with your butthurt.
How's that going for you ITT?
Good luck, though. I hope you win.
I'm still waiting on the proof that the meter attendant that gave you the ticket knew you were a student and that non-students don't get tickets in those situations.
Not sure if srs but faculty has reserved spots and law students always use the meters.
