Moved to the Friday night time slot. August 30th.
MSU_Football: Michigan State will kick off the 2013 football season with a prime-time television appearance against Western Michigan on Friday, Aug. 30.
Nice. I love playing on the first Friday of the season. We need to make this a tradition.
It's unique, and fun for the team, students, and fans. I agree
Cool, more time for drinking beforehand
Eh, yea, seems to already BE a tradition...
Nίκη για MSU
That always seems to inject some fun into an otherwise uninteresting matchup (like with YSU). Nice move by Hollis to make this season's weak home slate look more appealing.
Argh, short tailgating for that.....
35,600 posts and counting since 09-09-2002. tRCMB Dead Pool Commissioner.
This is exactly why I like this move. If this was a noon game on a Saturday, nobody would come. But because of the allure of a Friday night game and the novelty of it, it will be a full house

3 straight years, not quite a "tradition."
Not for students
Another reason why Friday night games are awesome is because it allows for viewing of all the Saturday games, and there are some good Week 1 games next season
South Carolina-North Carolina
Weak. Try harder.
Personally I hate the Friday night games, if they are going to be against weak opponents, not worth taking time off from work, so then you miss out on tailgating.
I like it and hope it becomes a tradition. More coverage and attention for us.
Do they have the day off? The last few seasons there was tons of students on here, and MSU staff as well, bitching because they had class/work until 3 or 4
Helps when people want to go away for Labor Day... Fri night games boost attendance
---"It's not over and it will never be over here."---
Looks like another sprint out of work from Chicago on Friday to try and make kickoff.
Sounds good to me.
I'd argue that he's trying too hard.
Good move. Night games are definitely a blast at SS.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
Good point but I don't think effort is one of Bob's strong suits.
Sucks for WMU's new football coach. He has a keg party that night.
Students do not have that Friday off, but seeing as it's only the third day of class, they can just skip it
Or, they can do what I did and just not schedule Friday classes to begin with
Prime time generally means 7 or 8, right? I don't know how many kids would have classes that late on a Friday. And like you say, first week of class, so who gives a damn?
I love this and hope we continue it.
I'm generally always busy on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend and this allows me to attend/watch. It helps free up my weekend and also adds intrigue to this game. It'd get lost in the Saturday afternoon schedule otherwise.
