True or false? I say True.
True. While this may not necessarily be our best team since 2001, the field is pretty wide open. No truly dominant team that I'm scared to see in the tourney.
2010. If Lucas doesn't go down with the achilles injury, then we might have won it all.
And could have won it all even after he went down.
I feel dirty up-voting Blanch, but sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut.
I dunno...we were a 1 seed last year, may or may not be one this year.
We haven't been a 1 too often...just 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2012. It's hard to say we have a better chance of winning it all this year with a lower seed than those years.
Shoot, the way he was playing, MSU may have won it all, or at least challenged Kentucky if Dawson didn't get injured.
I do think/hope we'll be going into the NCAA fairly healthy for once.

sometimes I upvote Blanch just because I understand what the hell he is talking about for once, even if I don't agree

blanch doesn't even get a chance to post much any more. His toughness thread would have been good but got deleted immediately.
i say false for this reason, def should have won it all in 2010 even without lucas, msu had no business losing to butler and msu would have throttled dook.
i only care about spartans --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqsAJQc-NCY
There's no way you would've said that we had that great of a chance heading into the tournament though. Things really fell our way -- the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in our bracket were knocked out by someone else.
Based on the team, potentially. Based on the rest of the field, heck yeah.
We have great balance, a good spread of upper to lower class men, solid defense, and Izzo. We will pose major matchup problems once we're out of the B1G. The question is if we can sustain it for 6 games, and who will take that leadership role when we hit adversity.
How do you know when he finds the nut though? I can't ever understand what the hell he is talking about. I might actually up vote him on occasion if he spoke English.
I'm pretty sure there were better odds of winning one game in 2009 than winning 6 games in 2013.
did you see how that game against UNC turned out? in fact, both games against UNC that year
and yet MSU still needed the very last possession to beat the basketball powerhouse known as Tenn Vols. the road to the finals will always be tough regardless of what seeded number is in front of the opponent when CBS shows the score.
This team has 1st round NBA talent (Harris/Payne/Dawson), good complimentary players (Appling, Nix), plays good defense, rebounds well.
Exactly. If you're playing in the game, you've got a chance. Yes, UNC was an excellent team and blew MSU out, but you've got to get there to be able to win. Maybe we should wait and see who MSU will actually be up against in the NCAA tournament before we talk about their chances. I think that MSU could conceivably beat any team in the country, but it would be nice to first see who they'll be facing.
He's talking about going into the tournament though.
2009 we were very, very good. UNC was a monster though, and the odds-on favorite going in. I thought we could make a good run, but if we ran into UNC it was going to be trouble.
I thought the same thing last year. Even though we were a 1-seed, you knew Kentucky would be a bitch to beat.
This year though, you look around college b-ball, and I think we are every bit as good as Indiana/Duke/Gonzaga.
False. I think last year's team had a better chance.
While it is true that we can beat any team in the country, there's also a lot of pretty good teams this year that can beat us if we have a bad game.
There weren't that many teams capable of beating us last year going into the tournament. We just ended up against a team that had a good match up against us.
Nope. Before Kalin went down, that 2010 championship had MSU written all over it. We were still one no-call away from playing Duke for it anyway.
More posts like the first one and you'll make it back
No way we could've beaten UK IMO last year. There isn't a team even as close to as good as them this year
This. Probably should have been playing for the title anyway. Fuck you, Gordon Hayward.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
Absolutely true. But I think we can all agree that we were better off playing Northern Iowa and Tennessee than Kansas and Ohio State. We were a 5-seed going in. That doesn't exactly scream "Best chance to win it all since 2001."
I'm talking about the foul he got away with on Draymond's final jumper. All forearm.
