The mlive article cited this site and this thread for breaking the story....
Haha congrats they referenced you in an article and we are now SpartanNation and not tRCMB.
“As we were waiting in line to pay the toll at the Mackinac Bridge, a State trooper cruised through with his siren and light on. When we got to the middle of the bridge, there were 3 State cop cars stopped and 2 private vehicles, one with nobody in it.
A passerby traveling south posted anonymously on the website SpartanNation, claiming that he witnessed police scanning the water and questioning someone near two stopped vehicles."
Wrong, they link to this site yet name Hondo's abortion of a site. Nice work Mlive

I weep for true journalists everywhere.
How many sites did the OP post this on? Lol
Can't these professionals just take their quotes from Twitter, like all the other hard-hitters out there?
Dominating Press Conferences Since 2007
this is epic....when taking a direct quote or link they HAVE to include every word: including the infamous "vietnamese" wife schtick...my god somewhere Barnes is laughing his ass off.
A little confused by your last statement as my parents have photos of us kids swimming under the bridge. We used to take the boat up to Crooked Lake and run the inland waterway out through Indian River, Bert Lake, Mullet Lake and out to the island, but a couple of times we ran out to the bridge and swam underneath.
The water temp doesn't stay that cold all year round, it actually gets decent. So much so lately that they have determined that some salmon stocked in Lake Huron are actually migrating through the straits and into Lake Michigan. Until the Asian Carp arrive (which unfortunately I see as a when and not an if) They have actually determined that the salmon are now a self sustaining population.

Not surprised MSP has taken the case; local LEOs were in over their heads.
Think it depends on the winds. If they stay calm for a period of time the surface water is very swim-able. Same thing happens on Lake Superior.
Camped at Ludington State Park one August years ago and the water was a very comfortable swimming temperature. A big storm blew through one night and the water at the beach the next day was extremely cold even though the air temperature was in the low 80s. It was weird. The storm had created giant pools of water on the beach in certain places...each one had a heavy fog over it that stayed through most of the afternoon. People would walk into the pools and disappear from sight until walking out the other side.
I can't wait for MLive's take on this
My kids and I have also swam under the bridge from Michigan to Huron. By the way, I think bodies or anything float northwest up to the USs side of the upper pinnensula.

YOUR have been banned from reading and posting on the Michigan Wolverine board.
Body will sink and not decompose this time of year. Would be on the bottom in minutes.
Ok. I've been told the current runs a bit NW.
Surface water and water temp in general can change considerably depending on winds. Have a few friends who did the Grand Haven Tri this year and the water temp was a somewhat chilly 67 degrees (Sunday). The winds changed that day and the next day (Monday), water temp was 55 and by Tuesday it was 44.
That being said, the fear when swimming in the straights is current and not temp. You HAVE to wear a life jacket.
huh, dunno pulling: when I just clicked on their link it cites THIS site, not Hondo's: must have fixed it
Well you have to figure the author came back to see the reaction if that isn't who posted it here in the first place
Mlive is a waste of the term Journalism.
All they do is put up articles that have nothing to do with news. Like Ted Nugent or wild coyotes in lansing. Its all to get that crazy Tea Party idiot mass web hits.
Mlive is hit or miss. A weird bunch of wanna be journalists...just saying
I'm curious, why do you feel the need to tell us your wife's nationality?
"I think the world is run by C students"
It's like MLive belongs to the history channel or something
