...both LeBron and Blake Griffin compete. Said it just now live on ESPN. He sounded entirely serious, and if he is, this would be awesome. It shouldn't take an extra million for those guys to compete though. The fans really want to see it, why not do it for them?
Hide yo quarterbackz, hide yo kidz, the MSU defense is here
How about 1 million to charity if LeBron, Griffin and Durant compete?
The dunk contest winner doesn't need an extra million
This shouldn't have to be done but would be cool to see these guys compete.
Popular sentiment is that the current version sucks donkey balls.
He could put 20 million down because it is never going to happen.
Unfortunately, 1 miilion to these guys is like a night on the town. Between salary and endorsment deals, I couldn't even begin to imagine how much some of these guys make.

This. And whoever downvoted u is a doosh but i gave u +1
They still do the dunk contest?
i only care about spartans --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqsAJQc-NCY
Wow I can't believe someone would downvote that.
I'm confident the reason they don't want to do it is because they're worried they might suck. There's a difference between being a great in game dunker and being a great dunk contestant.
Just about every good dunk has been done.
$1,000,000 to see Lebron take on the winner of the Chinese league dunk champ.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
How about you start a grass roots effort to get a $1m pool of charity funds established if they commit to performing in that contest?
Stop worrying about what other people need or don't need. It comes across as dooshy and pretentious, if not hypocritical considering that your income is easily among the top 10 percent globally.
Edit your post to be positively activist rather than negatively whiny and you get a +1 from me.
I'm betting Magic's got an angle to make money on it, even if it's for a charity tax write-off.
Vim -- noun: robust energy and enthusiasm : VITALITY
Yeah I'm whining about giving money to charity
Some people, good people, do spend time worrying about what other people need vs. themselves. Yet another incredibly dickish sentiment from an incredible dick.

The NBA needs to do something to drive viewers to All Star weekend. I know a lot of people here are anti-NBA, but I am not one of those. I enjoy the NBA. I have actually attended a NBA Star Weekend (Las Vegas). Of course I didnt go to the game itself, I did go to some of the events.
Saying that, this is the first time ever, that I did not watch even one second of any of the events on TV. Usually I will watch most of All Star Saturday and some of the game, but this year, I did not watch even one second.
LeBron makes 1 million every five NBA games. It's not enough money for him to be interested in doing the dunk contest.
Fletch has a good point. It's like Mayweather. They won't do it because their street cred will take a hit if they lose... not that it would ever happen as LeBron would get 49s or 50s simply for putting the ball through the hoop with two hands.

You really ruined your credibility with the Mayweather comment. He's easily the best boxer of his generation. PacMan is a clown that left a 50/50 split on the table (despite his record of losing, getting fights fixed, juicing, and having paltry PPV numbers).
Mayweather is an outspoken and often douchey man. Worse yet for him (to people like you), he's a successful black man. You can hate him, you can lie about him, but he's the best, and has been for many years.
Is this a boxing thread now? I'll bite. Mayweather hasn't fought in a looooong time. Don't be too cocky about him going forward.
Wow...that escalated fast. Dude mentions Mayweather and next thing we know the race card had been played. Yikes.
Yeah his success has kept me up at night. You read me like a book, man..
Jack Passion's "Outward appearance of the coach has a direct impact on recruiting" theory was less outlandish than your assertion. Congrats.
Which coach was he referring to when he mentioned this?
If you are already at the top you only have something to lose by doing that.
What do they have to gain? Not money. they already have all of the endorsement deals they want so they don't need exposure.
It would have to be just to compete and of course the fans. They should want to win. If the best players competed it could really be something special.
1 million won't get it done, needs to be 10 million.
and they won't do it by giving money to their charity, it would have to go to them.
