Depends on where you live, but in MI, you do not have to prove it. It's presumed you were. Prosecutor has to prove there wasn't a threat or you weren't in danger.
"And if you injure said intruder and neutralize the thread, then take the next step and execute someone, that's definitely murder, brutha."

and thats why you won't be charged for second degree murder. Killing them execution style when they were wounded is why this guy will rot in jail for the rest of his life.

Might have already been stated here but he is charged with 2 counts of second degree murder.
You could go with either first degree or second degree. But given his age, a second degree murder conviction is a life sentence, and Minny doesn't have capital punishment. Moreover, it'll be easier to get a 2nd degree convction.
I don't feel bad for the teens, but how unlucky were those teens, to break into the house of the only Sociopath in the town. I'm sure if they did enough investigating, they would find more than a few skeletons in his closet.
Don't intrude, and you won't have that problem.

Sounds like the guy acted excessively, and he's going to pay dearly for it. Still, if you break into somebody's house, you're asking for it. One of the kids' dad said the kid knew right from wrong. Clearly, he didn't.
