Son. I said that I think they are both really good. I did say I'd keep Stafford over Manning, but only cited age as a reason. You are saying that one is the greatest thing since Tom Izzo and the other is dogshit.
Admit Stafford is really good. Try it on for size.
And again, what D was manning facing today? And what was the strength-of-schedule Detroit faced this season?
A D that's good enough to play in a Superbowl, that's all that really matters.

Using this logic--winning a super bowl--is bogus. It's like saying Manningham is better than CJ.
No-- Manning is better than Stafford and Tom Brady. Brady gets a lot of help from his offensive line who keeps him clean and from having a better scheme. Stafford has a ways to go.
Dr Opti, providing wisdom;one message at a time.
Eh, I don't like Tom Brady but you have to give that guy credit. I really do NOT like him in the least bit but he is better than Eli. Rodgers is better than Eli. Eh, Eli is more experienced, but Stafford has the potential to be better. Stafford DEFINITELY should have made the Pro Bowl over Manning, but idk if Stafford is the better QB to have in the playoffs ONLY because of experience.
The Giants have a better Defense than the Lions and if the Giant's have 21 points vs the Pats with the Lions Defense they lose. GIants DO have a run game even if they are last in the league they are better than what the Lions had to work with. (Better Run blocking OL?)

So it was the 31st-ranked D that got the Pats to the Super Bowl? Okay, thanks for contributing!
I do give Brady credit, great QB, but I think he has a better O-line (pass blocking) and scheme than Eli Manning does with NY.
He is not better than Eli in my opinion right now, and these last two Superbowl's showed it. Manning is doing more things in the 4th quarter this year and has surpassed Brady, It happens. If we talk about a whole career that is a different debate, but Brady had some misses out there today, as well as his receivers.
I like Stafford but he has been hurt most of his career and didn't a deserve a spot over Manning or Cam Newton in my opinion. However tying for a spot would have been fine. What Newton did in his first year was superior to what Stafford did and that's why he went.
Is that what I said? Golly, I guess I did. You know, I did say the defense carried them to the superbowl.
No, I was stating the fact that the defense did enough to play in the superbowl. That's all that matters, even if they weren't the greatest statistically. If it was truly the worst defense in the league, they would not be in the superbowl. Yes, their offense was awesome, but if their D was that atrocious, then the Patriots wouldn't have made it that far.
Basically, their D isn't as bad as the stats say, they played as well as they needed to win the amount of games they did, and to keep the team in the playoff's until the final minutes of the superbowl.
Stafford had the better regular season, but Eli is the better QB. If i had to choose one at this point to put on my team though I may still take Satfford because of his age.
They're both 2nd tier quarterbacks (Brees, Rodgers, etc. tier 1), and you can make a solid case for either of them because they're so close. I'd rather have Stafford because of his age and the fact that I like him better; but if one is better than the other right now it's not by much.
I will say that Eli currently (obviously) has more playoff experience, and would probably be the better option if you had to choose one for a game like the super bowl. But pro-bowl status is about the regular season, if I'm not mistaken.
Fact of the matter is, NFC has way better QB talent Rodgers, Brees, Manning, Cam AND Stafford all were more deserving of pro-bowl status than anyone on the AFC roster. Somebody from the NFC was going to get screwed.
You're delusional. You said Stafford was better, and as your first and main talking point, you said he is one of only 5 QB's to throw for 5000 yards. I just refuted that by saying it was irrelevant and negligible as he only threw for about 5 yards more per game than Eli. And BTW, I never said Eli was "the greatest thing since Izzo", nor did I ever say Stafford wasn't good. I just think Eli is better, and yesterdays results bear that out.
Just because Eli isn't as flashy as Brees, Rodgers, etc. doesn't make him a tier below them. I don't think Manning is better than Stafford just because he's won two Super Bowls. However, I don't think you can say a quarterback who's won two Super Bowls (And I'm not talking sat back while his defense dominated. Eli WON two Super Bowls) is second tier. And I don't particularly like Manning.
Like others have said, I wouldn't trade Stafford for anyone right now because of his age and potential, but Eli is stepping out of Peyton's shadow and beginning to prove he's one of the best in the NFL.
IMO if you put Stafford on the Giants, they dont make it to the SB, dont even make the playoffs. Eli's 4th quarter wins puts him in a class with the elites this year. Put Eli on Detroit, they may not make it to the SB but he throws for over 5,00 yards easily.
And I am an Eagles fan so I hate Manning and the Giants.
"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
Even tacosalad thinks this is fucking absurd.
I object to this statement on the grounds that you sound like an idiot.
Clearly you didn't watch many lions games and watch Stafford place the ball where only his guy could get it. There's a reason announcers were gushing over him all season.
A play Eli made look spectacular, Stafford made look routine all season long.
For the love of Trevor...™
I bet you the Raiders thought the same thing when thy had the Lions pinned on their two yard line this year. Why about Dallas? Or Minnesota? Carolina?
God, if only the Lions were capable of winning a game in the fourth quarter.
Stafford is not as good as Manning. In fact I would take Tavaris Jackson and Rex Grossman over him. I've spoken personally with Gil Brandt and he sent me a letter praising my work, he agrees with me.
You also said halfway through the season that the Lions wouldn't get to 10 wins, but I don't see you trumpeting that brilliance here.
... and it's ironic that you're calling other people idiots, yet you seem to think there's some connection between the Super Bowl and who should be playing in the Pro Bowl.
Just a thought here, but since Detroit played in a tougher division, had a tougher schedule, and finished with a better record, isn't your comment kind of...wrong? And, the 4th quarter/2nd half wins this year favored Stafford, if I'm not mistaken.
Calvin Johnson is the best WR in football. Maybe the best player. He is one player. Lets not pretend that because Victor Cruz was a nobody before the season, that he isn't a good player. And I would take Manningham and Nicks all day long over the entire WR corps for Detroit outside of CJ, of course. The Giants have a better OL as well.
Time will tell if Stafford will have the success that Eli has had. To me, that is more on the organization making the right decisions than anything else right now. But, going forward, I'll take Stafford and hope they do make those decisions. Stafford @23 > Eli @23. I have to think he will only get better.
I don't know if this is right or not but Stafford had a number of great comeback wins this past season. It's pretty clear that Stafford had a better season than Manning but it's also clear that Eli Manning has more experience than Stafford. It's stupid to make these comparisons as one player is in his third season and 2011 was his only injury free year while the other has been around much longer and has played on teams that are much better than even the current Lions.
