I am sick and tired of seeing players go to the ice kicking their legs madly. Always a sign of a severe eye injury, and looks like Marc Staal was just the latest. DAMMIT. Flashbacks to Stevie Y., in the last game he played BEFORE WEARING A VISOR.
A very strong argument for mandatory visors.

Thank you, Denicos.
That's awful. It does remind me of Stevie a little bit. Hope he is OK.
Steve Yzerman gets hit by a puck.
It looked to me (based on the angle of the puck) like it still would have gone under the visor and hit him in the face.
Brian Berard is covering his good eye after watching that replay.
This. I'm not convinced a visor would have helped, especially considering this was a reaction thing where he saw it last second.

What bendy? Roll down your window, I can't hear you!
I was watching it live..his reaction was like Pronger's. just awful to watch, hope he's alright
laying in the weeds

Hope he's ok...I remember Stevie having to have surgery and breaking his eye socket or something awful like that. ouch.

Before you ask, yes, I am a girl.
Don't think so.
Edit: Dagnabit. Maybe 247 will let this post in the response.
Edit: Whoops, that's not right.
It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.
There are guys in my beer league not wearing a shield. Blows my mind.
I don't think the half visor would have stopped that either. I don't know how those guy do it... I would never play without a full mask or shield. I see the idiots in mens league playing with no shield all the time. A guy on another team got hit in the face recently.
So'd your wife.

Well what we don't know is how he'd wear a shield. If he wore it Kronner style, that still gets him easy. If he wore it tilted up a bit, maybe it kicks the helmet up and still gets him. If he wore it Heatley style, it probably kicks up the visor into his face.
I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm simply saying you may not be right.
I hate it when that happens.
That's my favorite line I've taken away from my statistics class to this point. So many applications haha.
Don Cherry thinks this thread is a fucking embarrassment to hockey, life and society.
That said, I favor mandatory visors in pro hockey and mandatory cages through college and major juniors. Eyesight is a precious thing.
I agree...they need to stop kicking their fucking legs madly.

I didn't know the Flyers were playing Wisconsin
I ref hockey and wear a visor. 3 weeks ago I took the hardest slapshot off of it. If i had not had it on it would have crushed my face. It still felt like I was hit with a bat. Fools in beer league that still don't wear any shield, amazing.
Seriously? He begins to look down, slightly, as the puck comes in. The visor would have easily deflected the puck.
