That young man came in and gave us some quality minutes today! He got some boards, played physically, and made some good decisions. It was great to see him contribute off the bench, and it provides him with additional confidence down the stretch of this season.
Way to go Matt!
Thank you, Denicos.
Really made NYsparty proud today matt way to go!

I really want him to be looking good going into the off season. Needs some confidence.
I hate our endless revolving door of under performing white dudes.
Michigan State University is the university of Michigan
Huge steps today. Would love to see Costello playing big minutes rest of way.
i only care about spartans --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqsAJQc-NCY
He banged with Mbakwe and did a good job.
Mbakwe was abusing Nix inside, we needed someone to battle him on the blocks.
That he did, and I was extremely pleased to see him in there holding his own.
Nope. He sucks. I don't even know why I post on this thing. Fuck MSU.
Costello needs to play more. If Gauna isn't knocking down jumpers (and he hasn't in a while) then he's a liability out there. The same cannot be said for Matt.
I hope he can become a Suton type player by his senior year
Gauna has been fine IMO, even when he's not making jumpers. He and Costello are going to be players next year.
I've got higher hopes for him than that. Maybe not much of a higher ceiling, but I think he can be solid/good quicker.
He's physical, we saw that tonight. So I think once he understands the defense a little better hello be a pest on defense and for boards. I also think he can run a bit, which could make him a transition weapon, something Suton wasn't, until he was a trailer his last year.
I think they're very different players.
ain't that the truth....list is endless really. I was watching the game earlier with my 9 yr. old daughter and she said:
"Dad, I hope this isn't racist but......it seems most all our good players are black."
...kid is a quick study, it's only the 2nd game she's sat down to actually watch.
Players play, tough players win.
Costello will be the starting PF next season. Gauna and Kaminsky will battle it out to be the pick and pop big man off the bench and Alex better work on his all around game because Kenny is the superior shooter.
Remember how big of a matchup nightmare Suton was his senior year?
He took a shit on Louisville in the Elite 8
Their skill set is different. Costello is more of an Anagonye type player. Beat you up inside kinda guy.
That game was awesome. Pitino was pissed and Louisville was basically beaten into submission. It was the quintessential Izzo game.
The RCMB...is one of the most awful, alarming, inappropriate, disgusting, and offensive msg boards in the history of the internet.
Ok, can we phase out/end this bit of bringing up nysparty every goddamn time there's a mention of Matt Costello on this site? I get it. A creepy dude who is a little too obsessed with college kids and says a lot of stupid things regarding the basketball team has a bit of an overzealous fondness for Matt Costello. That doesn't mean we need a bunch of other internet warriors associating Costello's name with some internet creep.
I seriously can't remember the last time I saw a post about Costello that wasn't immediately followed by the nysparty joke.
Alright, got that out of my system.
Played great tonight in limited minutes.
He is country strong down low and plays good defense on bigs.
I think he can guard 5s but needs more experience to be able to guard faster guys.
On the other hand gauna has a hard time guarding anyone so Costello does have that advantage over him.
Not a good comparison.
Costello has a much more well rounded offensive game than Al. Offensively, Matt will be an inside out big man ala Paul Davis when it's all said and done. Not as elite in thst respect as Paul was but he will be a superior defender and a much better leader.

Id rather just not have any white dudes on the team.
