There is no way that is correct. The NCAA decision would not have any impact on verbal commitments.
This is a good point. He had to have some idea that this could happen. They have probably been planning several other players too. Time will tell to see who else we offer.
You're 100% correct. As the Freep often remind us, verbal commitments are non-binding under National Letters of Intent are signed in February .
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Could be right, but with the timing of the offer AND the penalties given this morning they have to be connected. It was pretty clear that they had no intention of extending an offer to the kid prior to the ruling.
Time to join the good side Zach!
Some on twitter have Bradshaw as a LB.. Is MSU planning on using him as a WR?
That was the common thought. Kid is an excellent athlete. Sounds like Ryan Allison.
I think pretty much everyone has him as an OLB. I assume he'd play the the position Norman plays. (Star?)
Don't disagree with you or BM, but timing of this offer is way too interesting just to be coincidental. Time will tell.
The NCAA decision might not have any OFFICIAL impact on verbals. But just as there will probably be a large flight from PSU from scholarship football players, expect to see their recruiting "verbals" list take a huge hit as well. Every single kid committed to PSU right now simply Has To Be Reconsidering, if not already bailing on them. And they probably could have taken 25, and now can only take 15, so if they were full, they'll have to apologize to several, or wait for the verbals-attrition to take care of that for them.
Oh, yes, there will be an impact.
My Blood Runs Green.....
This is awesome news! Glad that MD was able to extend the offer to Zach.
Come on home Zach and Go Green! Very happy for MBrad and family.
Of course there will be an impact- the class is going to be decimated. But there is no way taking PSU verbals will exempt schools from having that scholarship count against the limit.
Your a retard.
This is great news. A chance to add another 4 star to our class.
Penn St has 12 verbals currently. Not sure how many current players will transfer with just 2 weeks left to the start of fall practice. I have a feeling that the majority of them will stay and try to put together at least 1 more solid season before the real long term impact takes shape. Especially the kids who have been around for 3 or 4 years. Some of their frosh and rs frosh may opt out now. Now we will see who the vulture programs and coaches really are. Look for the SEC to be lining up to grab players.
Hope we get him and he brings along a buddy or two, starting with this guy...
Dream big and reach for the stars.
A ripple effect of a possible Dorian Johnson decommit could also mean tOSU gets him and then Finley is no longer urban liars "#1 tackle option". Still have to deal with Wisky and Wilcher.
Better yet we get DJ.
I am getting the impression that the staff is planning on more slots for '13 than conventional wisdom says they have. I have no basis other than seeing offers for positions "we" thought were full.
Maybe they are expecting more early exits to the NFL.
Johnson has said that he wants to stay close to home. Close to home is apparently defined as no farther than Columbus.

Yeah, Hollis and LAKS are giving MD recruiting tips. Please.
It's completely related to PSU fallout, but not a potential waiver for the 85 limit.
