Not sure how to compute it all, but the five Mountain West teams in the tourney had victories over a 9 and a 10 seed, and lost to a 1, 12, 13, 14,and 15. And this is the conference that was hailed as the #1 in RPI for the last two months because of how strong it supposedly was top to bottom.
4 teams from one conference lost to a 12, a 13, a 14, and a 15.
So what is wrong with the RPI that these frauds were so highly rated? how does freaking New Mexico have the #2 RPI ranking and such a high SOS? Between this and the way they simply do a straight up average for computing SOS it's obvious some changes need to be made. The difference between #222 and #322 isn't much, yet if you happen to catch the latter in your non con then your SOS is unfairly dinged. it's not like you can control how the 7 or 8 patsies you play do over the course of the year. So what's the solution?
People can use the eye test, I don't know why so many fucking idiots want a computer to tell them who the best team / conference is.

Their conference PASE was 4.47 (I'm ignoring Boise). They got 2.
Somebody said in another thread, that many of the schools "gamed" the system. Instead of playing sub #225 RPI schools, they dropped down to Div II, which while counting as a victory don't count in the RPI.
As a full disclosure, I have not looked into that to check the veracity of that claim.
