I just picked it up the other day (for 360) and I have to say I'm incredibly unimpressed. The player models look like something out of a PS2 game, the animations are god-awful, and the controls feel laggy and unresponsive. It's also so packed with advertisements you have to wait for the Adidas logo to go away to see the ratings during team selection and you have to (basically) watch a commercial every time out. I guess I should have known that "Executive Produced by Jay Z" wouldn't be a ringing gameplay endorsement, but based on the reviews I expected it to be a lot better.
Hmm, I've been playing it for quite a while now. It doesn't seem laggy at all to me and it's extremely responsive. It's more or less the best NBA basketball game ever made.
I play on the PS3, but I can't imagine the 360 game is that different.
And if the good Lord’s willin’,
I’m a keep on chillin’,
refillin’ and flyin’ high
You are going to be the minority in this one.
"If you're worried about Wolverine fans, just move to Pasadena. You'll never have to deal with 'em."
Even if the controls just take some getting used to, the player models and animations are BAD. If this is the "best NBA game ever made," I'm glad I haven't wasted my time on anything since NBA '03 for the PS2.
I would suggest trying to get used to it.
Yea definitely 2k13 is really good
Well I bought the damn game, it's not like I'm taking it back. I just think that as shitty as the graphics and animations are and with the amount of advertising this is a $20 game, not a $50 one.
If you paid $50 for it recently, you bought it at the wrong place and way over paid. It's easily available for $30 numerous places right now.
Are you playing on a shitty TV? Because the graphics and player models and graphics are unbelievable on my 60 inch with HDMI cable. This and college football 13 are the only games I play till GTA V comes out and then possibly next years version of each if improvements are made. I would give my left nut for a college hoops 2k14 especially if everyone comes back next year and MSU is one of the best.
where is it selling for $30 right now?
Where at? I've been waiting for it to drop since I missed out on Black Friday. Don't feel like paying $60 because I probably will only play it a few times but at $30 or so I definitely would.
Just double checked. Used at most Game Stop locations for $30, brand new at Target and Amazon for $40.
So the last NBA game you played was from 2002, but you think 2k13 has bad graphics and animations?
I was really pissed that they shut down 2kshare and living rosters for 2k12 when 2k13 came out. It was a really shiesty EA move.
I've had the game since before Christmas and I love it. I ended up downloading the game to my Xbox and it took away the lag (still have to use the disc though). I think it's the best baseball game I've played and I've played tons.

Yeah the NBA 2k series is great, I just wish they were still allow to make College Hoops 2k.
Hopefully you weren't surprised by this...it's pretty standard these days
I hate the NBA but love 2k13. The my player career mode is extremely addicting. Would be awesome to have a College Hoops that is identical to the NBA product.
No, it's a great TV. Brand new 42" LG 1080p, and I am using HDMI. The transition between player animations are stiff, and the clothing (especially the coaches' suits) looks like they used the same engine as the original Max Payne. The ball hovers between the players' hands, the players' bodies clip through their jerseys from time to time... maybe I'm just spoiled by PC games, but I expected more based on the hype.
I like the 2k games but other than roster updates they don't change much year to year. My player is way too easy (MLB my player is 99 ovr, career high 84 jacks in a season.) (nba player is 99 ovr 2 1/2 seasons into career, averaging 33, 7, and 5 per game)
That is why I haven't bothered upgrading from MLB 2k10 and NBA 2k12. It is still fun and addicting though. As others have said id sacrifice the family jewels for a college hoops 2k13. 2k8 (the one with Oden on the cover) was unreal. Used to shit on people with the Memphis team that had Rose, CDR, Dorsey, etc.
The graphics only suck if you're not using an HDMI cord. IMO the graphics are some of the best for any sports game out right now.
Madden and NCAA Football both have better graphics. At least the ball doesn't float an inch away from the players' hands.
