If I had a billion dollars, I would be a billionare.
Yeah, a program that has NEVER experienced success is a "sleeping giant". Good one.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
This seems as plausible as NW turning into a Duke-level program.
More like a giant in a diabetic coma
Or like snow white.
hoke- to alter or manipulate so as to give a deceptively or superficially improved quality or value.
Good post. Like Michigan stadium as well, if it weren't for some self awarded, backdated titles won during the Roosevelt (Teddy, not FDR) administration then all it would be is the worlds largest collection of white trash. As it is, its the worlds largest white trash collection with history.

"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
They should have the worlds largest monster truck rally at the out house.
Academically? Already is. Virtually nothing similar as far as basketball goes, going back 60 years, Duke basketball was good before K, as a few in the thread have noted.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
agreed. i only get 5 downvotes on a daily basis, which is not enough for this clown known as the doctor
i only care about spartans --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqsAJQc-NCY
Duke no, Butler yes.
Lol ... No. Shit. Great idea for a thread.
Central could be Alabama in football, too
only shit this is a dumb thread. wouldn't expect anything less from the doctor

Hinkle Fieldhouse is beautiful. Once they join the Catholic 7 I could see this happening.
Tommy Amaker really does seem like a logical fit.
Carmody though has really had some bad luck. It seems like every year their best player gets injured.
Chicago produces the most elite hs basketball talent out of anywhere in the country. Put some money into the program and get an exciting coach who can recruit and you have a top 20 program.
Yeah, they probably would have made it a few years ago had Coble not given up basketball. Pesky team with lots of outside shooting, they could really stretch the floor.
But come on, even Penn State has made the tournament twice since Carmody arrived at Northwestern.
It does not work like that at Northwestern. The vast majority of the talent in Chicago would not qualify academically at Northwestern. Throw all the money you want at the problem, that's not going to fix it.
I thought Northwestern was full of smart people? Why don't they just inve$t just a little bit of money on recruits and lower standards they will be hood. Get the right coach.
Because Northwestern has some integrity? No need for them to try to stoop to Kentucky's level. If they invested in facilities, got the right coach, and went after the type of players Duke goes after (meaning talented guys who'd qualify), they'd improve. First step would be to pull in a few 4* guys from the Midwest who otherwise might have looked at Duke (but maybe weren't Duke's first choice). However, it'll take 10+ years of making the NCAA tourney before they start beating out Duke for Midwest players more often than not.
Well Northwestern isn't going to ever land McDonald's AA level recruits or a bunch of inner city kids and beat the B1G power teams with power or speed.
There best chance is to find a coach with a semi unique style of play like Bo Ryan, Beilein, Tony Bennett, or the Princeton stuff Carmody has tried.
Then get guys who aren't so good that they leave early, but aren't so bad that you want them to leave early.
They have higher academic standards than Duke for basketkball players, so it isn't even as simple as just "being like Duke."
Duke has a lot more leeway than a school like Northwestern. Lots of guys over the years at Duke who were not anywhere close to being "Duke quality" students.

I would respond, but you've done so very nicely.
