Good. I can't stand Raftery
laying in the weeds
This. His crew's slurping of players was sickening, especially in our game when they basically didn't even acknowledge Gary going off.
-1 to both of you for slamming Raff.
Seriously? Did you hear him this weekend? He showed total bias in every game he did. It was horrible. In every game he made calls on one side out to be incredibly worse than the same calls on the other side. Sure, his "voice" is great. His mind was not. Not this weekend, at least.
Kellogg is a moron who is biased in how he calls games and goes out of his way to make excuses for bad officiating. He's an NCAA mouthpiece and doesn't really add anything. expect a lot of Duke slurping from them and Clark praising the "smart" defense when Duke starts flopping.
Raff is one of the best in the business. It is an awesome treat when he does one of our games.
I like Raff, probably one of my favorites. On the other hand, Lundquist needs to hang it up. Great voice, but he's an edge mentally.
Of the four groups listed I wish we could've gotten Harlan/Miller/Elmore, but we're on CBS so that's a no-go.
Both gentlemen this weekend were not doing what a commentary team is supposed to do. Instead of calling the action, they often found themselves playing adjudicator or third-party referee. That's bushleague for CBS. Might get away with it on BTN, but on national Telly, you can't have that

Harlan is the best PBP guy going...and it's not really close. Verne needs to retire and then they can put Raftery with Harlan for a few years. That'd be awesome.
Bang. I just bad-mouthed him in another thread. The dude brings nothing to the game. No commentary--just platitudes and attempts at humor. He spends way too much effort in saying stupid things like "splash" for making a basketball in lame attempts to be original. He's uninsightful and rarely gives any real information.
Good commentary (normally), but his screaming at the end of his sentences makes me think he has turrets syndrome.
Bill and Vern were absolutely insufferable this weekend. I never heard of DJ Stephens before but by the the way they talked about him, it sounded like he is going to be a lottery pick. He had 3 fucking points. He sucked, but the announcers couldn't stop praising him.
They were loving the genius and energy of josh pastner who was 'competing for minutes' and baffled msu with the triangle and 2. How about giving izzo a little credit of adjusting at halftime and bombing them by 19 pts in the 2nd half. Oh wait they just talked about how izzo lost the team because nix and app got into it
Fuck them, those insufferable pricks, I never want to hear them do an MSU game again.
The 4 most interesting games are all on Friday
If we can trick Coach Krzyzewski into saying his own name backwards, perhaps he will be pushed back to the fifth dimension
I figured Indy was going to get the top crew. It's the marquee regional.
What kind of a miserable douche hates Bill Raftery?
That's too bad.....I'm sure Kellog will give us such insight as, "they've got to start executing and making baskets."
"No one cares what you know, until they know how much you care." Mark Dantonio
They spent most of the first half talking about Harris. You are an idiot and you have no memory. That's not a good combination.
Nantz is great.
He is terrible. I'm sorry but it's true. On the play where the Memphis dude had that big block, we still scored which negated the block. All he could talk about was the huge block. He went on and on about it. If he hadn't blocked it out of bounds it would have been a better play.
im wishing they'd let marv albert and kerr do some of the games after the first weekend. kerr is always spot on with analysis plus:
"gary harris for the three? YESSHHH!"
I second that one!
And, I am so glad we don't have ESPN and Dukie V doing this game. Can you imagine?
So who do you like as an announcer and in your opinion approximately what percentage are acceptable? I thought they were a little more off topic than usual because they mostly called blowouts. I believe 5 of the 6 games were obviously over at some point, which normally leads
to story telling.
I also think they are not announcing to appease the
fans of the team watching. They wasn't to keep the casual fans entertained. They already have you watching because it is your team.
looks like we got...
Yeah I feel sorry for the MSU fans that watch the game and only remember how much the commentators talk about the other team. Raftery couldn't get enough of Harris' "sweet" stroke in the first half. They were also falling over themselves praising Payne.
The guys on the mic can praise MSU for 35 minutes and the only thing this board will remember is the time they compliment a big play for the other team or criticize a dumb play by us.
This news doesn't stir me to feel emotions of much strennth.
