not the coaching change i was hoping for
laying in the weeds
Yeah, who would have started w/ DL when asked what MSU's problem area was?
Everything about this defense is Narduzzi's plan.
I thought this one was a matter of time. He's been coaching for 39 years
The DL didn't get much push this year. Not many plays in the backfield at all.
Look at Gholston, and tell me he shouldn't have had a better year. Now some of that is surely on Will, but it's Gill's job to not only teach the technique, but get the players fired up to do it correctly play after play. Besides not getting a push, we also lost contain on some key plays this year (Taylor Martinez comes to mind)
There's nothing irrational about wanting Dan Roushar to be fired.
Roushar to DL!!!111!!1!
And yet the defense was still better than last year when we got more sacks. The difference isn't technique it was personnel. Regardless, the DLine was incredibly solid.
Agreed, Gholston played on the DL for 2-3 years and his technique still was bad. I like this move, especially if he was a terrible recruiter.

I know one poster who would disagree.
"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
Can we get Charlie Baggett on staff?
I could see this. Moving Roushar to line coach and hire an Offensive Coordinator.

Maybe Gill didn't want to coach anymore?
No. Roushar has never coached anything on the defensive side of the ball.
We don't get Ramondo or Fennell if Gill isn't on staff. Period. He has arguably more connections around the country than anyone on staff. That kind of stuff pays dividends.
Brace for a Samuel-like underwhelming hire.

Who the heck is Ramondo and Fennell?
Two players Gill recruited. He did the Darien Harris recruitment as well.
Without being comfortable with Gill, we wouldn't have gotten Calhoun either.

Like a different DL coach couldn't get sleeper tackles?
He didn't like to recruit.
That will work!
It's a town full of losers. I'm pulling out of here to win!
Ramondo was a kid from NM who left for NMS or UNM, major disappointment. Fennell is originally from Canada, played a year of HS in OR, and came into camp in great shape supposedly. Only a RS Freshman. His dad was a LB who played at a college in N or S Dakota then years in the CFL where his nickname was Dr. Death. In the CFHOF.
This seems like the most logical explanation to me
I wonder if Coach D would bring Jim? Heacock formerly of OSU.
Elephant hunter would be the coach who left Cal last year and went to Washington.
Maybe there is a young dline coach in the MAC that we would bring on board. Personally would like to see a guy with heavy Florida connections.
Fennell? the kid with 0 offers and not even a player page until he committed to us? I think we would've landed him.
They will stick with Roushar just to spite the fans and say "you dont tell us what to do"
You think wrong as the only reason MSU knew about him was a friend of Gill's called him and tipped him off.
