I would've expected that they announce this as a retirement given his age, but it seems like it must not have been by choice.
You have to know about a kid before you can land him. Fennell never even sends tape to MSU if it wasn't for Don Matthews, who was a high school coach in Oregon who knew Gill from coaching in the CFL.
By his playcalling, it doesn't look like he's coached anything on the offensive side of the ball either
Maybe he piped up about Roushar...and got his walking papers.....(please dont let it be this)
The indoctrinated will no longer be able to deny it, only defend it.
Maybe he was the second gunman on the grassy knoll. (Please don't let it be that)
"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
Maybe he's Manti Teo's lover (Please don't let it be that)
It's more likely that Gill was released because of his role in kristallnacht.
Here we go! +1
If that's Gill's big claim to recruiting fame, then I'd say we could hopefully do better with the next guy.
Guinness makes you drop mud.
Maybe he's the one that knocked Alan Ruck into a 55-gallon drum of lube (Please don't let it be that)
get the new Nike MSU font: http://tinyurl.com/spartansfont
Of all of the coaches, other than Nardog, this was the last coach I thought we would change.
A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work!!
Will probably promote from within and then let a GA fill that role. Dantonio doesn't strike me as a guy that would hire someone from outside his circle.
Like Terrance Samuel?
So what position coach would consider DL a "promotion"?
Tressel? Barnett? Salem? All 3 of those position groups were better than D-line
Maybe they saw him on tRCMB (please don't let it be that)
Enos must have put in a good word for him.
Gill = Tanfan
I couldn't agree more: Ted just LOOKS tired and why wouldn't he? The man has worked his ass off. BTW- don't blame him ONE bit about not wanting to recruit anymore. It gets tiresome with all the drama and BS. Izzo has never came out and admitted he's sick of recruiting but he's coached in college just about as long as GIll has: going on 30 years. It's solid SALES all the way: selling yourself, the program, the school, etc.....that's mentally draining.
I wish Ted well in what will most likely be his retirement. He did a helluva nice job IMO.
Why don't we wait to see if Fennell is any good on the field before anyone praises the ability Gill had to find this kid. Hope he is good, but chill. I could see the staff hiring from the outside and going young to get some new young energy for the d line and potential recruits. I don't think by current coach on the D would just switch over to the d line, they all are very good where they are obviously.
You really want the Zooker?
Can't coach a lick but he can recruit.
Izzo said earlier this year that he loves recruiting.
This is why I'm surprised by this. Coach D proved me wrong when Narduzzi looked like he couldn't coach himself out of a paper bag and ended up being one of the best defensive coordinators in college football, hopefully the same thing happens with Roushar.
I would want the Zooker..the guy is a ridiculous recruiter..
