Tonight I was driving home and I got a call from a 517 number. I'm out of state but I've had the same number for about 13 years now, so I never changed it, since that would be a PITA. Usually when I get one of those numbers it is 1 of 2 things. MSU calling to ask for $$ or a wrong number. There was a short period of time I kept getting calls from Ingham County Jail or something like that asking if I wanted to take a collect call, but those ended.
Tonight the call came from 517 798 5701. I thought it was fishy from the start. The 'person' claimed I had recently taken a survey online. I replied that I hadn't taken any surveys and none online. They kept pushing and saying that they were calling to follow up about a job posting or something like that. At that point I started noticing something, basically it sounded like a computer, and I didn't remember them giving me a name. Everything sounded very generic. They told me that they wanted to verify some information given in the survey and asked if that was ok. I said no, and I got an automated, or at least it sounded automated, message saying 'thank you' and hung up.
I occasionally get a phone call telling me I won a cruise, which is a scam, this one just seemed a lot more sophisticated and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a human on the other side of the phone.
Well, at the very least, maybe someone will read this and not get suckered in to whatever it was they were trying to sell or steal. I was just surprised at how human the person on the other end sounded, but they had no emotion when I said no and it hung up immediately, like it was a program listening for key words.
Now knowing what 1995 is like all over again! Thank you 247 technology!!
If I don't know who it is I always let it go to voice mail.
They were just distracting you while hacking your phone.
Why all them dick picks dude?
Maybe they were so impressed with your unique skill to bring a plate of food and set it on a table that they wanted to offer you the head waiter job at the Hooters in Liberty City?
They kept you on the phone just long enough to trace your whereabouts. Wherever you are, get the hell out of there. No time to reply, just get. the. hell. out.
My cousin had the same thing, but with a 512 number down here in Austin. He didn't take it seriously and now he lives in El Paso. You don't want to end up in El Paso.
Maybe they just wanted to give you $5 off your next order at Bdubs.

Oman, yer prolly rite. Jackass.
Don't sell yourself short. You are one of the only 800,000 people and a few trained monkeys that can walk and carry food to a table at the same time in all of south florida. Your skills are in high demand!!
I get calls from a 517-884-XXXX number every two weeks, it appears to me MSU related. I let it go to voice mail, they never leave a message.
This sentence is freaking terrifying.
bump - don't want people spammed, err, scammed.
This number called me as well. I asked him if it was an automated program because he sounded like a robot. He laughed. It was so creepy I just hung up.
I make a point to always answer the phone with "Monique's House of Pain, whips and chains are our specialty." Telemarketers usually just hang up after that.

Pics of Monique?
"Called me yesterday, stating that they are calling in regards to a survey I had filled out. I had not. He then stated that he was trying to set somebody up from my household with work. Also false. I hung up on him. Today he called me around 2pm while I was in a meeting at work. Waiting for another call so I can have myself removed from the call list. If it continues then... I'll figure something out."
"This company has called me several times, saying this is the last time they'll call. I finally tried to get hold of a person to get me off their list and that person hung up the phone on me."
Draymond Green, Magic Johnson, and Oscar Robertson are the only players to have two triple-doubles in the NCAA Tournament.
This. Its always something with these people.
Now I'm getting calls from Texas and its always an insurance co. and they always leave a voicemail which is nice. But it just says "Hi this is______ from ______ insurance. Please give us a call back"
No I will not give you a call back idiot.
Now everyone has this song stuck in their head the rest of the day. (Evil laugh)
This is a clay animation music video I made a couple years ago to the classic 80's song "867-5309" by Tommy Tutone! SWEET!
Looking for donations.
