Assuming of course Duke beats Creighton ... will the Louisville fans in the house be cheering for our Spartans?
I am not familiar with Louisville's fanbase's opinion of Duke.
Total guess, but I suspect Duke. The reason is Nix/Payne. Its just a really weird match-up problem that few teams have ever been able to offer.
They will probably root for MSU because they think UL can easily beat MSU.
I think they should actually root for Duke.
If you can do a half-assed job of anything, you're a one-eyed man in a kingdom of the blind.
- Kurt Vonnegut
If we make terrible decisions and turn the ball over like we did today, then they might be right. We made some terrible mental mistakes today. That shit is not going to fly against teams like Duke or Louisville.
Louisville seems unimpressed with everyone:
"Duke is a solid club. Michigan State is a solid church league team."
"If this mich state team plays duke in the sweet sixteen they'll get smashed."
"I don't care about meeting Mich St. Look at how winded both these teams are right now."
Kids and their video games.
Your a retard.
Don't care. But remember , Duke beat Louisville earlier this season.
I'd have think they root for MSU. We're turnover prone and they force a TON of turnovers.
The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.
Forgot about this ... Publicly their fans will say they want a rematch with Duke, but privately they have to view MSU as the "easier" matchup and are hoping for that.
Lville really surprised me today. I noticed they really only have one 'tall' guy and he's not very big looking. Everyone else seems to be smaller and quick. But their lineup just doesn't look that big.
I imagine they'd want another chance at Duke, but probably see us as weaker just based on the media making us seem like a middle of the pack B1G team.
You don't remember him from last year? Nix does... and he'd better have a good idea how to go at him this year.
"Tonight, we show the world what this program is made of!" -- Brian Ellerbe on Mar 4, 2000, the night of scUM's 51-point loss to MSU.
No Dieng in that game.
If they were smart they'd root for Duke. I would want no part of us on the 2nd day of a weekend (although I'm sure K's record is impressive as well)
Neither, they'll be pulling for Creighton.
MSU. On principle I will never root for Duke. I'm still not exactly thrilled about possibly having to see Izzo again in the tourney. I'm sure he'll have his team ready to play. That game would be physical as hell. They might have to carry some people off the floor in stretchers. We're hot right now and Izzo is always a tough out. Could be interesting.
The Cardinal fans I met in Phoenix last year were really respectful. I suspect they know they'll have their hands full either way.
Vim -- noun: robust energy and enthusiasm : VITALITY
I would guess MSU but have no clue.
K is 11-1 in Elite 8 games.
If I was a Cardinal fan I'm not sure I'd be rooting for anyone but Cardinals.... Oregon has looked athletic, and impressed me so far this tournament. Not sure they are a walk in the park.
But to answer the question at hand it seems they think we will be an easier matchup for them.... Because of our issues w their team last year
Agreed. If I was them MSU is not the team that you want to face if you have serious FF aspirations. Dook is a terrible rebounding team...but you do have to defend the 3 with them, and if they can't hit them consistently then they are very vulnerable. UL-MSU will be a war defensively if it does happen. First team to 55 probably wins it.
"I love March!" - Tom Izzo
We'll be fine. Memphis is quicker than both Duke and Louisville. If we lose to either team, TO's are not going to be the reason just like TO's weren't the reason we lost to Louisville last year. The inability to shoot was the reason we lost to Louisville last year.
Duke was 5-20 from 3 in their first game against them. And won.
Louisville was missing Dieng.
They are rooting for us to win. They think it's 2012 and nothing will change their opinion. Dieng will destroy our frontline just like last year and they'll run MSU out of the gym.
It's funny, because they didn't run us out of the gym last year. They pulled away late.
Riiiight...and Memphis still thinks they are better than us and just gave the game away. Underestimate Izzo and the Spartans and you just might be going home early like they did.
