Is is our #1 problem on D. The flagrant, whether you agree with it or not, came as a direct result of it. Nix has improved his overall game immeasurably, this is just a weakness.
Probably 2/3rds of OSU's second half points came from it. When Nix hedges strong, he has trouble recovering to his guy. When he doesn't, the guard just attacks him and creates problems, either with a blow by or an assist elsewhere when we rotate over.
Both second halves of the last two games, OSU took advantage of it, went to it repeatedly. Clean this up, and we'll be fine.

Was hoping that after he scored and Izzo started subbing offense defense he was taking nix out.
Next play he committed he committed the flagrant.
After the next loss it won't matter.....he gone
Doesn't matter when there's a corpse running around in Dawson's jersey.
Craft is just totally tuned into Nix. He just waits for him to commit his big body and instantly reacts. It is very much a cat and mouse game and the mouse is very shrewd.
No sh!#... What happened to him? Don't say acl, because he was good for a while after that. Nix is suspect on D, but we'll miss him next year.
I could be way off base because I know very little about the X's and O's of basketball, but I think that Appling was suppose to cover Craft but was out of position so Nix moved over late and had to foul.

Very frustrating for them to repeatedly get the shot clock down to 10 seconds then just run a ball screen and get one clear path to the basket after another. Craft read Nix (and others) like a QB reading a DE on an option. If he sagged he shot a J, if he tried to hedge he just blew by him.
Craft is very good. Also appling was trying to beat the screener and was to often got caught too far away from craft. This allowed craft to release and go one on on one with nix often and he abused him.
If appling would have stayed closer to craft nix would have been able to show more and still go back and recover on his man or the help defense could have rotated.
Nix just isn't fast enough to guard point guards . If appling would try harder to guard his guy and everyone rotates properly they should have been able to stop it.
It is difficult though when craft is hitting his jump shots off of the screen and roll though. It makes him hard to stop. I would live with those shots over a layup line though.
What makes you think there's another loss coming???
/Bad Spartans expect losses
And if the good Lord’s willin’,
I’m a keep on chillin’,
refillin’ and flyin’ high
No center can guard a point guard on the perimeter, but with Craft you really don't have to. He doesn't get his jump shot off quickly and doesn't elevate. He is just a strong player who knows how to play. He is surrounded by shooters and therefore has a lot of room in the paint. When they clear for him to penetrate the nearest defenders all have to help.
