my GOD your reaching....the WILDCAT? How's that working out these days? Watch the 'pistol' get blown up in the playoffs this weekend btw....it takes an ultra talented guy like RG3 to run it too, which is why most teams wont do it: Plus, its a matter of time before he's hurt VERY seriously. Glad they have a great backup becaue they're gonna need him. Run and shoot worked for a while, and the defenses adjusted and it's now obsolete. Same with the wildcat: all but obsolete now. The "pistol" ? GIMMICKY BS that works against weak teams with soft defenses. As I said, it will be exposed against the stronger defenses in the playoffs. IF da foreskins advance past the 2nd round get back to me, but they won't

You're the worst of us all. You're averaging 487 posts a month. that's mind blowing. Don't you do anything else with your life?
Nope "tucked" under MD's wing

That's a penalty, an ejection and three articles in the Detroit News if MSU made that tackle out of bounds
I'm. With you that Kelly won't be able to bring his exact offense to the pros, but you have to admit lots of "college principles" have made their way to the pros. Even if lots come and go, they'll be used in some spots with certain players to mask offenses who simply don't have the personnel to run traditional pro style offenses. Much of what RG3 and Wilson are doing is based off college playbook shit. Will it last forever? Probably not, but it's here now and working. It would be interesting to see what Kelly would try in the NFL. A lot would probably depend on the QB he inherited, but the guy is about pace and getting playmakers in space.
The way college players, especially QBs, are taught is light years ahead of where they were 20 years ago. Even lights years ahead of 10 years ago. If seven rookies have taken their teams to the playoffs in the NFL, how do you explain THREE rookies doing it this season? Everything you see as bad is deemed "gimmicky" or "obsolete." I don't see how it's obsolete; the only difference is that the NFL has become a passing league because the rules favor offenses a lot more.
And saying the Skins won't advance is not a very ballsy prediction considering RG3 isn't 100 percent...
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
Amen. And we were rarely (if ever) the beneficiary of a late hit out of bounds flag.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
Ok, I've officially read all the posts and you can take me seriously now...
I agree a little bit with both of you guys. A college gimmicky offense isn't going to work in the NFL, but you can take certain aspects of it and use certain plays. Seattle, Washington, and San Francisco all use that shotgun read option (or whatever you want to call it), and they use it successfully. All three are playoff teams. Seattle owned Chicago (a good defense) in the 4th quarter and overtime by running that play almost every time.
College coaches don't succeed in the NFL because they bring some fancy system. They win in the NFL because they are smart and use a wide variety of plays depending on their personnel and their opponent. I think Harbaugh is one of the best coaches in the NFL, simply because he is smarter than most coaches.
And I'm not sure if Chip Kelly will succeed in the NFL, but he does seem like a very smart dude who would be willing to tweak his system to fit his players and NFL styles. Only time will tell if he can win in the NFL, but if I were him, I wouldn't leave unless it was to team that is already pretty solid. I don't think anybody can go to the Browns and make them contenders next year. But a team like the Bears? They already have a lot of pieces in place.
Look band geek. I'm the king of this play ground.
Also, the large majority of NFL GM's aren't stupid, either. Why would two or three teams be putting all their eggs into Chip Kelly if he was a flash in the pan? It's a long process. Kelly didn't just show up at Oregon one day, and he won't randomly be thrust into the NFL.
that's like being the smartest kid with downs syndrome.
Touchdown K State
Good run by Klein.
