THOSE AREN"T EVEN IN MICHIGAN! And don't even bring up Piggly Wiggly! Every region has their grovery stores but no region is worse then Wegmans!
Did you assume that since I'm a Bears fan, I must be from Chicago and therefore shop at Jewel for my groceries?
Because you are exactly right.
BECAUSE NO ONE VOTES ON GROCERY STORES! Is there a vote every 2 years or 4 years to coincide with the countries elections to decide the best Grocery Store? I vote the closest store to my house or on my way home as the best.
Yes. It was a coin toss between Jewel and Dominick's.
That is because no store is as awesome as Wegmans. The new Hy Vee store's are a complete rip off of Wegmans. They are nice, but not as good.
What the hell is a Hy Vee?
Hy-Vee, Inc., where there's a helpful smile in every aisle at more than 230 employee-owned grocery stores in eight Midwestern states. We work hard to save you money and provide a great customer experience. Hy-Vee offers online floral delivery, catering and cake orders, plus thousands of healthy recipe meal ideas at hy-vee.com.
I haven't been to a Wegman's in over 20 years. They used to have these awesome hot wings. They were like a chili/honey flavor. Anybody know if they still have those?
Yeah I don't think it was a public vote...
Then how can the Vote be considered Valid?
Did B_ just say that Tubby was hitting jumpshots????

The will to succeed is important, but what's more important is the will to prepare.
We sure like our capital V, don't we?
Wow, I just noticed that. It must be some kind of subliminal thing where I capitalize V's.
Meijers is a great place to shop at and if I lived in MI I would probably go there. That being said when your options are to shop at Pathmark, Shoprite, Acme, Shop n Save, Bottom Dollar, Save A Lot, Stop & Shop,Food Lion, Weis Markets,A&P, and Walmart and a halfway decent store like Wegman's comes into your neighborhood one might be inclined to shop there.
Let's see there are two many hippies at Trader Joes, and Whole Foods, and their prices aren't that competitive. Wegmans and Giant are consistently the two best markets in my neighborhood that offer great produce, vegetables, fresh meats etc. If all you eat are frozen meals or pizza roles etc, than any of the 11 aforementioned stores will suit you.
Giant's are hit or miss. They are either good or very bad. I'm lucky and the one's by me are pretty good. Plus I tend to give Giant my business because they give me points which translate into $ off of my bill at the gas pump. Last week I had .90 cents of a gallon. I paid 2.50 a gallon for gas which is great
I don't do all of my shopping at Wegmans. I go there for last minute things I need, or if there is a sale, or if they are giving away free stuff. They are conveniently located to my home and that's why I like the store.
I also like the fact that you can purchase a case of beer at a grocery store in this stupid state of PA. Hell dare I say it; it reminds me of home in MI. I don't buy any of Wegman's prepared food items because to me they aren't that great and it is essentially an overpriced glorified buffet.
That being said I have no idea why you have such an affinity for disliking this place so much. Just because their employees are happy, they enjoy working there, and they have a high retention rate for employees doesn't justify your dislike. What happened did you get fired from there? Are you a disgruntled ex employee?? Sorry I guess working at a grocery store is not as glorious as working at Google or any of the other top rated places. This doesn't change the fact that their employees are apparently treated with respect and like where they work.
Take a pill man

No my dislike is from my In Laws and when I would work in the Syracuse area occasionally and I would hear the name Wegmans more often then anything else. I sweat if I ear dinner at my In Laws (who live half hour outside Syracuse), I will hear Wegmans at least 15 times. "Oh this is good bread" " Yeah I got it at Wegmans", "Hey we need some Milk" "It is ok I will stop by Wegmans later", etc... Just say you are going to the store. I don't say I am going to CVS when I need to pick up deodorant or a prescription, I say i am going to the store. I shop at Kroger here in Michigan, because like you I get the points and it discounts gas, however when I am going grocery shopping I just say I am going Grocery Shopping. No need to talk about the damn store the whole time.
It isn't the products in the store I dislike, I will even admit that when I would work out of our Syracuse office I would go and get a sub for lunch. It is just EVERYTHING in that area is Wegmans this, Wegmans that. And the people i know from that area think we live in a 3rd world country because we don't have them here. It has worn on me for the past ten years and has become a running joke with my wife and in laws, and a little while ago Turtleneck and Stils from this board. Turtleneck is from Rochester NY I believe so he knows the Cult that is Wegmans.
Not from there, but spend a lot of time there.
Go to DiBellas for a sub and you can avoid Wegmans.
"Wegmans has incorporated DiBella's style sub shops into their stores, with consultation from the DiBella family, but they are not actual DiBella's restaurants."

You've been dealing with it longer than I have. I just got married. I even prefer Costco more than Wegman's. I was just saying that in the Philly area there seem to be a ridiculous amount of poorly ranked grocery stores on a consistent basis. When you are limited to selection based on geography, then Giant or Wegman's are pretty good choices.
You obviously are just maddened by the herds of people who drank the KoolAid. I get it people from the east coast are weird compared to people from the midwest. They say the same stuff about us though
\Well the Wegmans in Fairfax is only 5 mins from the NRA range so when you are done navigating the parking lot& X5/Range Rovers and and their hot MILF owners with rail-mounted laser sights capping rounds you will see some of them cruising the artisan bread station 45 minutes later.
