from what i see around me if you serve at a decent restaurant that sells alcohol you can easily make over $40k/year.
I never understand why people with this attitude don't announce it before they sit down and eat. If you feel so self righteous about it, just let your server know that you think they aren't any better than a second class citizen and if they wanted a better job they shoudl go find it.
Enjoy your lunch or dinner, I'm sure everything will be fine with it.
I'd rather talk to the cook or the guy who owns the restaurant -- the talented people. Instead of some guy who fills glasses, brings food to the table and pretends to be nice to me.
If the service is shitty, I will tip shitty. If the service is great, I will tip great.
"Put your mother in a straight-jacket you punk ass white boy." ~ Mike Tyson
Go for it. No one is stopping you. You can probably even ask the hostess at the front.
I don't feel I'm any better than them I just don't think they should have such a sense of entitlement to tips. I have friends that serve and they ALL bitch about tips. They complain that they have to share tips, get stiffed tips, get crappy tables and on and on. If it's that big of a deal find another job.
What really gets me are the facebooks posts. "If you can't afford to tip, then you can't afford to go out and eat." If you feel it necessary to go on facebook (or in this case post the picture online) and bitch about tips then you probably should be spending that time looking for another job.

I can almost guarantee that someone has spit in your food with that attitude. At the places I frequent I always tip well (especially bars). The payoff when places like that are busy make it well worth the investment.
Then have the balls to say that when you go out to eat.
If I'm at a casual place, I tip very well if I get someone who appears to be in college and is working the job to help get him through. If the person is older than say mid-20s then no, I never tip them well. I figure they have failed somewhere down the line to be working at a restaurant when they are 30 or whatever.
have you ever "contaminated" anyone's food?
And that's why I'm getting better service than you.
What's not true about that? If you are 30 and working at a chain restaurant (as waitstaff), you probably didn't make great choices in your life.

Doesn't have to be servers, everyone complains about their jobs. I'm sure it sucks to think you worked hard and come out with less money than you think you should have earned. I work a desk job, but I'm sure I complain to my friends about working overtime and weekends, or about the interactions I have with co-workers and clients. Doesn't mean I don't like the job or want to find a new one though. The ones that do it on Facebook though are either miserable or attention whores (or both).

How about just do your "job".
Or you weren't put in a good position to succeed for whatever reason. Poor schooling, accidental babies, etc. It's not always someone's fault that they're in a bad place. A lot of the time, they are the ones who actually need the bigger tips, not the college kids. Or hell, maybe they just enjoy the service industry. Especially at a nicer restaurant or bartenders, those people can make good money. Ever think that maybe they just straight-up enjoy their line of work?
Maybe so but I don't look down upon people who work. People trying to survive just to make ends meet. You don't know their individual circumstances. Like I said you are a prick.
Do you also murder prostitutes because they made bad decisions? You sociopath.
I didn't know tRCMB had so many waiters and waitresses.
No, but I ran someone down in teh parking lot, handed them back their tip and told them it was apparent they needed it more than me. Or I told them they forgot their change.
What a tool you are. I'd love for you to tell me next that you are a union worker.
Has nothing to do with the profession, it's your rationalization that troubles me. Makes me think logos aren't the only thing you've murdered, Mr. Bateman.
