I crossed paths with him during my time at MSU and he was and with his success obvioulsy is a really sharp guy. As to Perles' involvement, maybe given that he played under him, but Shurmur wasn't like a lot of the meatheads during his tenure, and two of the biggest were Perles' own sons. A couple real winners there.
Bellicheck did too. But that was last century.
Browns coaches this century (when they got team back)
I think Crannel was the only one to be a NFL HC again, but I don't think any of these guys ever went down to college coordinators. Sadly I will have to admit that Fletch might be right.
FWIW, the Browns 2012 total offense rank: 25th.
Butch Davis went to North Carolina as HC after the Browns fired him. But he had prior college HC experience at Miami before he went to Cleveland. Shurmer looks like an NFL guy through and through. I'd say the only way he'd end up at State would be to replace Dantonio as HC some day, or as a short term consultant. And frankly, I'm starting to think hiring a consultant for the offense is a damn good idea.
Its five o'clock somewhere.
FWIW the Browns had a rookie QB, RB, and no. 1 WR. Youngest team in the NFL by far.
And Flozell Adams. He was in my place the night he signed him.
Isn't Dantonio's daughter a student at MSU? If yes there is a good chance that Btothejizer knows her and that's why he's following her on twitter. People around here need to lighten up.

Honestly, recruiting sounds like the most miserable job in the world. Of course, I am not cut out for sales.
Ah yes. how could I forget? I guess the only other one would be George Perles as the short-lived HC of the Philadelphia Stars.

I wasn't ripping on him, I'm just unclear as to why he's the supposed savior for our offense.
Well, 1. He's not coming here, and 2. If he came here, it'd be a phenomenal hire. Any NFL experience is a great recruiting pitch, and if our OC was a HC at that level....brrr.
A new OC doesn't need to be a wizard. He just needs to score more than 7 points per game.
I'm going to guess he ends up on Andy Reid's staff. Looks like Andy might end up as HC of KC. So, my guess is Shurmer will either be his OC or QB coach. Just a wild guess.
Titans just fired their RB coach...

Depends..most likely Shurmur will end up being the QB coach if Childress becomes his Offensive Coordinator. What happend to Andy Reid going to Arizona?
Guess we will find out soon.
