Somehow I think this is leading to Payne leaving for the draft. Sort of the smoke and fire thing. Can't see Appling being drafted high enough to make it worth the chance. Maybe Harris feels the NBA will be worried about re-injuring his shoulder and feels he may need to make a move this year.
Coach Tom Izzo wants NBA evaluations on his underclassmen interested in the draft so that don't confuse his players.
Whatever is best for each player is fine with me.

This is almost a non-story.. Well.. Except for Appling.. I imagine he's just looking for some feedback to help get ready for when he graduates...
Harris and Payne would be silly not to look..
"If I listen to most of those draft logs and all those bloggers or those uneducated individuals that put so many different...the draft now, we must have added 75 teams to the NBA because there's 80 first-round picks," Izzo said.

Do they still have the "rule" in place where you can only do this 1 time?
Here's how this breaks down:
Payne - actually taking a look
Harris - seeing how his shoulder injury may affect draft status between this year and next year
Appling - looking for feedback on what he needs to do to improve.
This is a Pallas’s cat. Their round pupils give them an odd human quality. They disturb me...deeply.
I am preparing myself for the possibility of all three leaving. Just in case.

Me too, I going to watch Season 1 of Doomsday Preppers.
And +1 to Zeno, that's how I see it too.
I didn't read article but from the teaser bit in the link it says that Coach Izzo is the one who requested the evaluations so he can properly give them his best opinion on what he thinks they should or should not do. This really is not major news. We knew that they would look for info on Harris and Payne and Appling is a mild surprise but I think its moreso to see where the NBA Scouts feel he is at now so he knows what to improve on.
Payne is 50/50, Harris 60/40 stay and Appling 90/10 stay IMO.

It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
Non story. Izzo said yesterday he would do this for Harris and Appling even though they're coming back. I think there is a pretty good shot Payne leaves but even Izzo said he has no clue.
there are two rounds of the draft for what 62-64 guys?, as of right now there are like 120-150 players looking at it. I'm hoping all three come back
Appling has zero chance of being drafted right now.
I think Harris could benefit from another year in college. With shoulder issues, teams might get nervous.
Payne could probably go low first round now. But could move higher next year with another srong year at State.
There is absolutely no way Appling gets drafted.
Didn't read the article but I'm just going to go ahead and if that's alright with everybody.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
With Payne, I don't think staying another year is necessarily going to improve his draft stock. Yes, he can add some bulk, develop more of a lost post game, consistency, etc., but the NBA has always drafted on potential. In fact, I'd argue they like the guy with "untapped potential" more than the guy who's reached his peak/ceiling.
The thing that I worry about is Payne hearing how much deeper next year's draft will be compared to this year's. The 2013 class is deep with one-and-done talents. So if he hears that he'll be a first round talent this year, why risk it?
All that said, selfishly, I hope he stays...
Appling leaving early for the NBA
Somehow I think the freak injury to Kevin Ware is playing a role in this
Rogue Leader= Obese coward who didn't attend MSU and has no college degree
I'm calling it 80/20 Payne to go, 70/30 Harris to stay, and Appling 85/15 to stay.
Probably all planned long before that happened.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
The real tragedy of any of these three leaving would be having to wade through dozens of posts by BillOGoods about how they're bad, selfish people.

Oh, I agree, he'd be a fool. But who's to say what a 20-year-old kid will decide, especially with so many people, some with questionable motives, giving him their advice!?
example 1. Lorbek
example 2. Kearney
what, we dont mention M. Taylor anymore?
MSU's bball team will be better next year with all three than with anything less. Since I don't give a crap about any of their personal lives, families, or hopes, dreams and fears but do care about MSU bball winning basketball games; I'd prefer they all stay.
