None of them are ready.
The nature of being a Spartan...expect the worst, and hope for the best.
I don't think any of them are ready, but then again, I don't get paid to make that evaluation and don't have NBA credentials.
I'm just a fan who knows a bit about round ball and has seen a lot of college players come and go.
Wait, maybe I do know enough to make an evaluation. ???
Couldn't agree more...
What does that have to do with him leaving early
I've already accepted that Payne is going to leave. That way it will be a pleasant surprise if he decides to come back.
(As I've said in other threads, only way he comes back is if he's being told that his status is being held down because scouts believe he can't do things that he believes he can do. In other words, if they're saying he doesn't have potential that he believes he has.)
Half the board probably doesn't even know who he is.
I'm surprised Dawson didn't request an evaluation; he must already know what his weaknesses are.
It's interesting they requested evaluations, but speculation is useless. I won't read anything into it.
Call me when one of these guys is suddenly missing from class.
Appling won't even get drafted in the first round next year.
hoke- to alter or manipulate so as to give a deceptively or superficially improved quality or value.
Well no shit
Kalin Lucas didn't even get drafted
Rogue Leader= Obese coward who didn't attend MSU and has no college degree
He probably would've been without that achilles injury.
He whose name must not be spoken.
I really feel Payne has a lot to gain by coming back. Just seems that he would have another whole year to work on his game and be more of a focal point for the entire year. Harris as well. He is decent now, but why go in the low first when you could get closer to a lottery pick next year? ( if you develop more obviously)
Just for fun, they are all coming back.
If I'm being honest, I don't see that Payne has all that much to gain from coming back another year, other than perhaps proving that he can play like he did in the second half of the season for a full year. I see him as a stretch 4 in the NBA, and I think he's shown flashes (and more) of absolutely all the tools he'll need to succeed in that role. Other than adding polish and proving consistency, I don't think he'll be able to improve his stock a whole lot.
Being even more honest, I'm selfishly hoping that he comes back even if it's not the best choice for him personally, because, as a fan, the team will be much more fun to root for with Payne involved. My hope is that he comes back, leads MSU to the promised land, and greatly improves his draft stock at the same time, proving once and for all that I never have any fucking idea what I'm talking about, no matter what subject I'm opining on.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.
Why are you so ignorant about these things? While I never called any player a "bad" person, far from it, here's the context of the "selfish" comment:
"Think about this: How are we ever going to win a friggin' B1G or get to the Rose Bowl if guys like him take the first train available out of East Lansing, screwing us over? Are we waiting for some "magical" alignment of the planets causing our then stars to re-consider and stay all four years? It's so completely unnecessary and, yes, a selfish act by him---an act which certainly doesn't merit our derision, but also isn't worthy of our slavering approbation. Until guys like Bell, Sims, and Gholdie decide to stay all four years, even though they don't have to, this Program will continue to be a minor league Program, at best. . . .
"But, no, not at MSU. At MSU we praise stupid decisions that hurt our program because we think the purpose of our football program is to put players in the NFL as soon as possible. That isn't the purpose of our football program. We should not be bashful to admit that the purpose of our program is to . . . win championships and other acclaim! What do you think SCum says the purpose of its program is? Develop men from boys? Scholars? Coaches? All those are goals. But the purpose is to win. At MSU we talk the talk about winning, championships, and national prominence, but we don't walk the walk to do what it takes and one major friggin' thing it takes is keeping your best athletes for four years---not as long as you can and hope for the best."
What could you possibly disagree with in this part of the post? Unless, of course, you don't think the purpose of the MSU Football Program is to win. If that case, to quote a great urban philosopher, "I pity the fool that thinks that."
This is absolutely right. In fact, it is a primary reason for returning to school. The college experience at every level is superior to the reality outside of college. It should be prolonged.
1st reply nails it.
I'm not concerned one bit about who decides what, wish everyone all the best and it ends up for the best.

My wife has watched a handful of games this year and can tell you his weaknesses.
This is the most logical answer...therefore nobody on the RCMB will believe you.
"We'll play anyone, anyplace, anytime!" - Tom Izzo
Payne - A half year of dominant performances will not get him drafted in the lottery. Returning and showing that fire an entire season would. You are a freak, hone those skills with another year at MSU.
Harris - Shoulder issues will hurt his draft stock, get the shoulder fixed, come back and light it up, then leave. You are that good, but not ready yet.
Appling - Nowhere close to being NBA draft material. Disappeared in too many games. plus another shoulder issue to contend with. Averaging 5 PPG in crucial B1G games will leave you undraftred.
This is nothing more than Izzo doing his due diligence for his players. All are coming back.
Seriously, if any of those three kids left now, it would be a mistake.
