+1 huge difference in ability to win.
This is the one school that scares me in regard to Dantonio leaving (but I think he is here as long as MSU will have him). I also think that is the job Charlie Strong is waiting for.
Did you think he was going to bag on South Carolina on the radio (with an SEC reporter)?
He's not going there.
Rumor is Strong wants that job when Spurrier leaves...which is one of the reasons he didn't take the Tennessee job.
Edit...although when the SC job comes up, I'm sure we'll have to give Dantonio a raise. He's underpaid relative to other coaches, as was Bielema. I think UT offered Strong $3.9 millionand he got $4.1 out of Louisville. Dantonio doesn't make anywhere near that...although he does have a $3.5 million buyout.

are we going to have one of these threads for each coach that turns down UT?
If so, I need to make sure I pace myself.
If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day.
Depends on what UGA team shows up. They are Dow Jonesers...
Dantonios name never gets brought up for jobs anywhere. It's a nice change from the Saban nonsense, but it also makes me wonder why.
VolQuest just dropped RichRod into the conversation!! bwahaha. Also said more $$ being thrown at Gundy.
I think the perception is that he's a 3-star recruiter, and our success has been based on overachievement. SEC schools don't want that, and nobody else has enough pull to get him. (in theory)
In 25+ years of coaching, he has no experience in the SEC. That's not going to fly with anyone down South.
I bet RichRod would take the UT job.
Agreed. SEC desires big name, big recruiting, or at least a big reputation. Love MD, but that's just not him.
The heart attack probably has a lot to do with that. People will say he has health concerns.
Spurrier just signed an extension thru '17 so Charlie is gonna be waiting awhile and coach D's ship may have sailed.
How long did Bielema coach in the SEC? And Miles for that matter?

Miles was 7 years ago. Recruiting has changed a lot since then. LSU went through Butch Davis, Petrino, Tuberville, Nutt, and even interviewed Bobby Williams before they got to Miles. They had to make a quick hire for recruiting. And OK State recruits Texas...as does LSU.
Bielema to Arkansas doesn't make much sense...to anyone. Recruiting at Arkansas is a little different than Florida, Georgia, Bama, Auburn, and South Carolina though.
He's 67. He's not going to coach for 5 more years. He signed an extension for recruiting purposes.
No kidding. My mom grew up in Tennessee... and has always been a Bama fan because UT was always so bad. I do dig that whole Rockytop thing, though. Toe stub then Pellini to the SEC: proof of Darwinism at work. Don't let the door, and your eventual firing, hit you in the ass!

He looks like Karl Hungus from 'Log Jammin'
Now that Texas A&M is in the SEC Bielema will make Texas a pipeline for his recruiting classes.
Arkansas has always recruited Texas.
I looked and they only get like 6 guys from there, they need to get like ten guys or more in each class. Texas A&M will get all the blue chip guys now with Johnny Football as their new salesman and with Texas down the last few years Arky can get more out of Texas. Man, I wish Texas was next to Michigan.
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
I was listening to Paul Finebaum today and Paul and Bruce Feldman were on from New York.
A caller called in and made this statement.
"You know with all the rumors and all the names brought up, I have no idea how or why you never hear Mark Dantonio's name brought up! How is that?"
Bruce Feldman said: "That's a very good point, and he is a great coach, but everyone I talk to and the buzz around the industry is that he is very happy at Michigan State. In fact, so much so, that I would be shocked if he didn't end his career there. But that is a good suggestion because he didn't have a great year this year, but he has really done a great job at Michigan State"
