I don't mind defending my statement about Fitzgerald, and I don't mind acknowledging that there are good positions other than mine.
However, who the better NW football coach is/was is irrelevant to the point I was trying to make, which was: If we assume that Fitzgerald is a very good to excellent coach, saying that firing Carmody clears the way for equivalent success in basketball is not something that can be assumed.
FWIW, by my count NW won 54 games in the 10 years prior to Fitzgerald.
