Willingham isn't a recruiter, he simply doesn't put in the time. He proved that if you're lazy enough, even an ND head coach can bring in lackluster classes.
I heard from an ND donor (before Willingham was fired) a telling anecdote. ND alums allow ND coaches to use their private jets for recruiting purposes. One guy even asked why no one was asking him to use his jet (Willingham didn't want to, he was a 9 to 5 guy that thought an offer was enough to get a recruit). Another donor lost his shit when he met Willingham at the airport and he got off the jet with his golf clubs in hand.
It's my contention that it was the viewer who was in fact whacked, not Tony Soprano. Everything went dark and silent on the viewer. If it had been Tony, we would've seen it.
I am aware that not many share my theory.

he won a bowl game and beat Iowa in IC. he's not going anywhere.

Is this all wishful thinking about there actually being an opening on the MSU staff or does someone here know something I haven't heard (i.e. that there is an opening)?
Thinks of the turds that guy generates.
May not be worth it if he got a big payout from nd and UW.
If the guy was worried about money, he wouldn't be hanging in the most expensive housing market in the U.S. Between the buyout from ND and the buyout from UW he probably isn't hurting.
Are we still talking about Willingham? It sounds like his finish in Washington was pretty terrible:
At 0–11, Washington was the only winless team in the FBS, and the owner of a 13 game losing streak stretching from the last season. Washington closed out the season with a loss at Washington State in double-overtime, making it four of the last five, and with a season ending loss at California. Willingham finished the season with an 0–12 record, the Huskies' first winless season in 119 years. His .229 winning percentage is the worst in school history.
Probably. My dad was like "how about Pat Shurmur as MSU's new OC?" I told him that would be awesome, but no way it happens.
