I thought that was only if the 2 teams were in the same conference, like scUM going over us last year.
K-State is up by 18 with 3 minutes left. The path has been cleared for NIU and it'll be interesting to see how much love they get in the polls. If not them, it should be Boise State.
NIU is gonna have to pass Boise (won this week) and Michigan (took the week of so Hoke could eat)
Boise was 200 points ahead in the Harris poll and 100 points ahead in the coaches poll. NIU was already ahead in the computers and should get a bump in them.
"Put your mother in a straight-jacket you punk ass white boy." ~ Mike Tyson
Exactly. It'll be interesting to see.
No. 12 Nebraska got jailsexed, No. 13 FSU just squeaked by a 6-6 Ga. Tech team. No. 15 Oregon St. carpet bombed an overmatched Nichols State team, and No. 16 UCLA lost.
Below the No. 16 watermark, No. 17 Kent State lost, No. 18 Texas lost, Michigan was idle and Boise beat 7-5 Nevada.
Nebraska will drop, UCLA will drop, Kent will drop, Texas will drop. Unfortunately for the Huskies, I don't think they get higher than 17-18. So close, but so far away.
On a side note, how weird must it have felt to be a Sugar Bowl or an Orange Bowl rep and have to be at the MAC Championship game??
"When I was in school they told me practice makes perfect. Then they told me nobody's perfect. So I stopped practicing." --Steven Wright
I don't know if Boise qualifies as the MW champ...they're sharing it with Fresno St. and SDSU, and I can't find anything online regarding to the Mountain West having football tiebreaking procedures. Weird, because they appear to have them for basketball.
So, I have no idea how that would parlay into BCS eligibility.
Probably not as weird as the NIU players are feeling right now. It's either Orange Bowl or GMAC/Little Caesars for them.
Quite the drop off in prestige
All they need to do is be the highest-rated non-BCS conference team in the top 16. Doesn't matter how they did in their conference.
If BSU makes it to the BCS, would MSU be the only team with 2 wins over teams in the BCS??
They have to be champions, no exceptions (for the automatic bid). That was the reason Boise State could not jump UMich or Virginia Tech last year (because the BCS is really only obligated take automatic non-AQ teams). Boise State was eligible for an at-large, but did not make it anyways.
Coming into this week, Boise State was not even ranked by 5 of the 6 computers and NIU was unranked by 2 of them. Both of them sit right behind Michigan and having a computer-ranking of any sort would be a huge improvement and should help them both to jump ahead. 16-18 will clear out, so it seems like one of these teams will going to the Orange Bowl.

Ah, okay. Thanks for that.
...and as an extra kick in the nuts NC STATE swooped in earlier tonight and hired away Doeren, NIU's head coach:
btw.....I am NOT up on this like alot of you guys but............I hate to fucking ask this.........SCum is gonna squeak into the BCS again aren't they?

Highly unlikely, they have to be in the top 14... Since they were idle today, there is no way they are going to jump Oregon State (who will probably be right at that number 14 spot).
good........makes me sleep easier tonight: thanks
speaking of Oregon State...you guys see where they beat Nicholls State by 74 pts. today? And we beat their hoops team by about 40 pts....damn....THAT'S a rough day.
Absolutely, but if you're NIU, you've got to feel like you're playing with house money at this point. The goal all season was GMAC/Litte Caesars.
I don't think they began the year thinking anything more was even a possibility.
Can't have 4 losses and get a BCS at large bid.
No chance in hell. Oklahoma would get in if NIU or Boise doesn't.
You should ask SPARTICUSS. He might know . That is if he's not too busy giving hand jobs.

So do we cheer for the Fighting Roushars or not?
I would think if they get a BCS, we are forced to keep Dan.

good.......good. Nor should any team with 4 losses , but IF they could make an exception...... Money grubbing effs would do it if they could.
ONLY if you ask 'tranfan' the next time you two get a room. My guess is your the catcher and tranner is the pitcher!

Just like last year! (scum and uw)
Unless you're 9-4. The rule is that no team with less than 9 wins is eligible for the BCS.
But, that's all not relevant because Michigan is 8-4.
The bigger issue is that they won't be in the top 14. Only major conference teams from the top 14 can be considered if there are enough. After ND's automatic bid, you have Florida, Oregon, and Oklahoma all sitting in the top 12.
