I didn't claim that being among the leaders was some sort of victory in itself. Signing day 2014 is a long way off, so whining about recruiting at the moment is pretty stupid. A lot of recruits for that year are probably nowhere close to committing, so being the leaders is the best that MSU could be doing at this point. MSU is off to a very strong start for that year and there's a lot to be optimistic about.
Bottom line is we suck at recruiting. Washington sucks and its been getting more 5 star players than MSU ever had in its two 11 win seasons. And washington sucks as a school. We cant close out recruitments. We lost pittman and lost benenoch. We were leaders for garrett at one point but after ND fiasco we would be lucky to remain in his top 5. Sorry but you cant keep winning with overacheiving 2 stars every year. Especially now that hoke and meyer are cleaning up recruits like they are cleaning up a buffett. We need to strike now but dantonio and his wussy bunch of coaches will sit back amd let other coaches poach their targets. Then sunshine blowers like rogue and punisher will clamor on how the 2 star recruit we got was underrecruited because MD got him. Really? Imagine if you are a top rwcruit and someone like roushar ia recruiting you
I have an MBA...Master at Being Amazing
Why does Washington suck as a school?
MSU is not going to land 4 and 5 star recruits regularly, thats why we need top COACHES.
We need MD as he is a great evaluator of talent.
bla bla boo hoo. As for ND- if they played in the Big Ten they would have lost 2 games at least. MSU for all fo the fucking-up this year was a few TD's from being undefeated.
Something has to be done about the Offense- but mostly better OL. MSU's OL has sucked since MD took over for a variety of reason- a lot to do with just plain bad luck. But I would have to say that having one of the best coaches at that position would have helped. MSU clearly did not- and then they promoted the same guy to OC. In my opinion, MD should have gotten the most dynamic proven OC he could find when Treadwell left.
I know you're asking facetiously but all you're going to get are excuses
You and your facts
Your logic...it's just so bad.
And not even a conference championship. There need to be changes made and recruiting needs to be better.
Calvin's is a dolt and doesn't understand this, move along.
He won a conference championship.
Really? A coach with a pulse is recruiting at an elite leve at Notre Damel? Yeah right. Next you're probably going to tell us that Texas, USC, and Alabama have really been getting the cream of the crop lately.
No they wouldn't.
MSU won the conference in 2010. Where were you?
It's called owned.
Keeping the sunshiners in check since 2000.
Where ND has excelled is in the trenches on both sides of the ball. They have been stockpiling that 4 and 5 star OL/DL talent for years going back to Weis and continued by Kelly. The program was just waiting for the other areas to catch up and it all jelled this year. As long as a program is getting alot of talent in the lines(mulitlple 4/5 stars) and have a competent QB they will always be lurking and ready to bust out a season like ND did this year. If you lack the talent in the trenches there is no way to get through a season with 0 or 1 loss. 2014 recruiting better have a strong emphasis on OL and DL after missing out on so many targets(Ol/DL) the last couple of classes. ND, OSU and UM have loaded up in these areas in the 12 and 13 classes.
How do we fix this?
On the Washington Huskies getting 4/5 stars. The Huskies went out and poached two of the best recruiters on the west coast and its paying off at least for their recruiting. We just gotta go out and bring in some stud recruiters, why Coach D doesn't do this is really puzzling.
stick to whelching on bets.
It's paying off for Washington?
On the field?
This is the first year for the two new recruiters they brought in so you gotta give them a few more years to see if the results get better on the field.
Draymond Green, Magic Johnson, and Oscar Robertson are the only players to have two triple-doubles in the NCAA Tournament.
Are you talking about the 2 guys they hired from Tennessee?
Have they significantly improved recruiting in their 1 year there?
Drake Harris will be a 5 star, need to keep him. Deon Drake is a very high 4 star top 150 player and the 3rd player in 2014 is a Bullough. We've got a shot for 2014 to be special.
Keep in mind that our 2013 recruiting class is going to get a major bump when Terry and Reshke are re-evaluated. Both should be top 100 players and Terry is a borderline 5 star now. I would much rather have Terry coming in than the "supposed" 5 star Shane Morris, wouldn't you?
