Your not sure how anyone could think he is a good guy?
Not even like, one person? Are you like a Rick Majerus insider or something?
tRCMB brilliance at its finest.
"I'm not a big Gay guy..."
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
So, you're saying he was less of a great guy than The General?
Just because someone is a great coach doesn't mean they should be respected.
We are the SPARTANS and They are NOT!!! [spartan 2]
Did fishrose seriously get banned for a week for calling this guy a piece of shit?
From water we're born, in fire we die. We seed the stars.
Living in St. Louis for almost 30 years, I thought he did great job at SLU.
While working at a Catholic University, he continued to stand up for his beliefs even though it went against the positions of the Church.
Here's a nice article about him:
Articles, especially columns after a person's death will never mention, or just brush over, the bad parts of that person.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be respected for being a great coach, but it doesn't mean I have to view him as a saint as a person - the two are not mutually exclusive.

Why bring up the General? Stick to screwing up one individual at a time.
Ask the mod squad.
Majerus was a good basketball coach. He was one of the best X and O technicians in the last 50 years. But he was also a loose canon and his mouth, his use of profanity and not being politically correct specifically the way he dressed down players in front of the rest of the team didn't make help him.
I always thought had Majerus been 100-125 pounds lighter 20 years ago he would have been a Big Ten/ACC/PAC10-12 coach but AD's in those conferences don't often hire fat guys to be the face of a program that's supposed to be a money maker for the athletic department.
So if you're fat, the big ten won't hire you, even if you're a gifted coach, but if you look like Gene Keady we will embrace you.

He's not wrong. Maybe not because he was fat, but certainly because he was never in great health largely because of his weight. That's not a secret. It's pretty common knowledge Majerus would have been with a big-time program at one point if he wasn't a ticking time bomb.
name a Big Ten coach who had Majerus 300#+ girth over the last 25 -30 years when they were hired. He was a heart attack waiting ti happen. When he did get the big break going from Utah to USC it took him less than a week to figure out his health was too bad to take the job.
Majerus was an odd duck (like living in a hotel while he was Utah's coach) but his weight and health issues that go along with being obese kept the high profile jobs from ever being offered. Had Iowa, MN, the Illini or Northwestern hired Majerus 15 years ago it would have made the Big Ten even tougher.

Al Mcguire, Hank Raymonds, Majerus all gone now.
Did Gene Keady ever take a shit in a towel in front of his players?
