Always in fashion!
My seats at SS. My driveway in winter.
Pretty amazing that Raftery turns 70 in April and is considered the young one of this announcing crew. Will be a sad day when they are no longer doing CBS games...
Yep. +1. They're easily my favorite combo on CBS.
Verne is still fighting, he's gotta be what, 80? I think that he still does hold his own out there on the broadcasts. Loved it last year when he kept calling Keith Appling "Luke Appling", came back from commercial and instead of ignoring it, explained it as a little side story from his youth. Was very humble.
Good stuff. J Lane back when Pitt was Pitt!
"Oh, I think Tommy sees this thing slipping away." The "thing" Raftery was referring to in a very concerned avuncular tone was the National Championship. The occasion was when Izzo called a time-out early in the second half in the regional semi final against Syracuse in 2000. Syracuse led by 10 at the half and had come out and quickly padded their lead in the second. Of course after the time out the Spartans led by Morris Peterson demolished the Orange but I have never forgotten Raftery's line.
Vern's been doing this seemingly forever....he did the infamous "Kansas clock malfunction" game at Kemper in the '88 Tournament.
Weren't they on the call @ tBres when we Donkey Punched UConn in 99-2000?
Marriage is like flying with kids, if the flight had 500 connections, never ended, Ted Striker were your pilot and you ate the fish.
Holy crap you are his younger brother
