Didn't see anything posted about this. Does anybody agree with that statement? Personally I'd put him #2.
Randy Moss has had a brilliant NFL career, but where does he stack up all time at his position? Moss said Tuesday he believes hes the greatest wide receiver who has ever played.
Location: Mumbai, India
Wouldn't crack my top ten.
Get off my lawn.
I guess if you are a competitor and you have had the type of career he has had, you have to tell yourself that but I would have never said that publicly, then again I am not Randy Moss. The numbers do mean something and Jerry Rice still holds most of the receiving records that they measure a WR by and he has 3 Superbowl rings. Jerry was clutch when the ball was thrown his way in the Superbowl, let's see what Randy does Sunday when the ball is thrown in his direction.
I'd probably put him behind a few guys who weren't terrible teammates, like Jerry Rice.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
If you're the one saying you're the best, it means you aren't.
Apparently Moss also lacks the ability to use logic and reason.
"This year has been a down year for me, statistically. The year before I retired was a down year, and then in Oakland was a down year.
"I don't really live on numbers. I really live on impact and what you're able to do out on that field. I really do think that I'm the greatest receiver to ever play this game."
Moss may be a grade A pudwhack, but what 10 would you put in front of him?
Go Bears, Blackhawks, White Sox, and Pioneers.
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand
It was just a mistake;
I didn't mean to let them take away my soul.
Am I too old?
Is it too late?
This. He legitimately had the ability to be it, but he really didn't have the desire or dedication to it to be the best, and his stats and absence of rings support this. But he's certainly entitled to his opinion...no matter how wrong it might be.

"I love March!" - Tom Izzo
What about Bill Schroeder and Scottie "Coward" Anderson???
Rice is the GOAT. Moss in his prime the most impossible to defend.
Posting member of tRCMB since 1997.
It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
If you wanted a WR for a season or two it'd be Randy Moss, if you wanted a WR over the course of his career, it'd be Jerry Rice.
Rice had the better career but I think Randy Moss is the greatest WR to play the game.
Moss was the most physically gifted receiver ever. That said, Rice had a much better career and it isn't close.
You forgot Titus
Agree. Greatness has to be measured by something done - not by what one may have been capable of.
Yep. Could have been the best of all time in a runaway vote. Instead he was an entitled head-case with a shit work ethic.
If he had the mindset of someone like AP he probably would have been.
Unrelated but I enjoy this picture.
1998 Minnesota Vikings go 15-1 and crap the bed in the NFC playoffs
2007 New England Patriots go 16-0 and lose the Super Bowl.
Randy Moss is not a champion. Ravens 20-17.
Not so unrelated. I see 2 Large mouths.
Just when we thought he had learned how to keep his mouth shut.... Watch the Ravens lock him down on Sunday....
Spartans ...committed to bring Paul Bunyan home in 2013.
Moss is not a big part of Niners offense as part as being thrown to and he only plays half the snaps. In the receiving game for Niners it's Crabtree and Vernon Davis. Despite Moss, I am rooting for Celek and Robinson to get a ring. To hell with Ray Lewis, sick and tired about hearing about him.
I certainly wouldn't say he's the worst, but I don't know about the best.
This is funny. And another reminder of how young this board has gotten. Off the top of my head I can name 10 better receivers and if I had to think I could name twenty.
Y'all need to open up your history books.
He was probably the most talented ever at WR and I'd say he was the best ever on the deep ball. But no way would anybody take Moss over Jerry Rice. I would put Moss in the top 5 though at WR.
Hey Randy..........how you gonna pay off your fine to the NFL?
"Straight cash homey"
I think a lot of Rices stats are more a testament of his longevity. Rice played for 21 years, Moss 15. If you look at the numbers divided by years played, Rice has .5 receptions more per game than Moss, and 4 yds per game more than Moss. Moss actually leads in TD's per year by one.
Also, it's very difficult to compare players based on team accomplishments as there are so many other variables, so I don't buy the "Rice is better because of all his rings". Based on that, Trent Dilfer is better than Dan Marino. While Moss has played on some good teams, Rice had played on arguably the best team ever, and had two HOF quarterbacks throwing the ball to him. Think about the numbers Moss would've had playing for the 49ers - or, imagine him on the NE Patriots team he was on for 20 years instead of just 3. I really do think Moss is a better WR.
