Putting an order together at cigarplace to order tomorrow morning for free shipping. Throwing together my own little sampler from a few various top 25 lists consisting of 1 or more of each of the following:
Aging Room presto
Alec Bradley Prensado Churchill
Arturo Fuente Rosado Sungrown Magnum R4
Camacho Corojo Figurado
El Triunfador No. 2
La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Belicoso
La Gloria Cubana Rabito De Cochino
La Reloba Sumatr Torpedo
Oliva Serie V Double Robusto
Rocky Patel 15th Anniversary Torpedo
Nice shipment of 21 cigars to add to the humidor, I'm particularly looking forward to the "cigar of the year" Prensado Churchill and the cheap Rabitos that come in a little box with 3 cigars tied together. Supposed to be real damn good for what comes out to be a $4 cigar.

You will be getting a downvote when I have some more for that....The thread is a "good cigar" and everyone knows you don't make blunts out of good cigars.
Working on a good ol henry clay. Great old timer and reliable to boot.
Don't post poop!
I haven't been back to this thread in a while, but here's my
I've tried the Man O War Virtue and Ruination, and they are both excellent. Highly recommended, and yes, they do look very cool when you're smoking one at a tailgate.

bump for a little help
Got a small (4 cigar) portable humidor for Christmas today (link below) and then Propylene Glycol Solution (when my aunt bought it, the guy at the smoke shop told her this is what I would need). How much do I put it...there is no hygrometer to indicate humidity level inside or anything, just the spot for the cigars and
on the inside of it, there is a small circle with a filter, which I am assuming is where I put the solution (read to not use tap water, can contain impurities that can ruin the humidor).
So basically, those of you in the know with more experience, help a Spartan out and walk me through how to use this thing before I go buy some smokes (been smoking for awhile, but would buy 1 or 2 and smoke them within a couple of days of buying them).
Also, recommend me some cigars (under $12 a piece would be preferred) that I should fill it with.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand
good to know. i bought a sampler from Cigars International with a couple of those in there. my humidor is stocked for a year.
on a side note i just bought a Peterson pipe and have started smoking it with a group of my police buddies on what we call Sunday Funday.
Good and usually under 10 bucks.
Check out Thompson Bros. online. Great co. and you can get humidors, etc.
I'm assuming this unit doesn't have a hygrometer because it's a travel unit not intended for long term storage. I would fill the filter with the propylene solution and simply hand test the cigars to check for "moisture level." Regular cigar smokers can fairly accurately gauge the readiness of a cigar by rolling one between their fingers and ascertaining how much "give" there is to the cigar. Dry cigars feel lighter and more "crinkly." If you run out of the solution you can likely (read the unit instructions) simply use distilled water.
If you become a regular cigar smoker you should probably consider investing in a larger desk top humidor with a hygrometer for longer term storage. As for cigars, I've recently been using Famous Smoke Shop (see below). They have great deals and also many different sample packs that allow you to try different sticks to find what you like. Good luck!

someone named "msudawg" is winning this auction item.
I'm leery to bid against a fellow spartan. Fess up. Which of you want these Romeo & Julieta's?

About to have my first cigar of the spring. 5 Vegas series A. Love me a good cigar and nice beer, nothing beats it.
I have added a number of new items to my humidor as of late, Tanner...I will bring samplers to the scUM game of course. I really should try to take a picture of the humidor now that is nearly fully loaded.
Rocky Patel 15th Anniversary Robusto, got a deal on a bundle of 20 but they need time to age and mellow a bit
Flor De Las Antillas Toro(CA Cigar of the year 2012), real good for the price but they sell out fast
Arturo Fuente Rosado Sungrown Magnum R 44 pretty damn good for a $7 cigar and would get more if on sale
Oliva Master Blends 3....Any of the sizes are good, but expensive. A real good cigar when you want a really good smoke
Been smoking liga privada 9 and tatjuaje black labels a lot lately. I still smoke a bunch of la flors though. They do maduro better than everyone.
This country was built by people who worked hard then went home and had just a few too many every night. Then went back to work.
I am still trying to find good small cigars, either packs of Cigarillos or single smaller cigars. I tried the half coronas from Ashton and they were ok and at $8 for a pack of 5 not a bad deal but there has to be something better.
If you haven't tried it you need to. They are hard to come by but the best cigar I have ever had.
You guys all current students?
Looking forward to it my spartan brother.
Keeping the sunshiners in check since 2000.
What's so bad about Swisher's? If you aren't going to get expensive Cubans those might be the best.
Well they aren't hand made, use trash filler, and don't have complexity.
Meh, still cheap and decent for their price.
Imagine calling Natural Lite a liquor. That is what you're doing with cigars.
Campbell's will be able to fix you up with lots of fine choices under $10, though they have a lot of inventory that is way above your price rance. Ask questions; they're very knowledgeable and there to help.
Al Maywood at the Downtown Smoking Club next to MBC downtown Lansing doesn't have quite as wide a choice as Campbells, but what he has is all first class but very affordable. You can't go wrong with anything on his shelves, and everything is very reasonably priced. Very nice lounge as well
Cigar Connoisseuer in downtown Lansing next to the Peanut Shop has a collection midway between Campbell's and the Downtown Smoking Club. Prices range up to ~$20-$25 for the most expensive cigars. I don't think they are quite as knowledgeable as Campbells or Downtown Smoking Club, and there's nowhere to smoke there.
One good tip: Both DSC and CC have house-brand, hand rolled cigars that are very good quality and well below the pricing for comparable brand-name cigars. Check them out.
I am not even sure I would call swishers cigars but if you like em then you like em.
I prefer Backwoods to Swishers in a pinch.
