“The stuff I had to accept this year, the program almost got hijacked,” Calipari said. “Never in my career have I surrendered in any way to any team, and I did at times this year — to try to save guys, to try to help guys — and it never works.”
3 freshmen (all projected to go in the first round) said they are coming back. I bet all 3 will end up going pro, and Cal starts 5 freshmen next year (and UK fans will love him for it).
Kentucky basketball suffered a hard fall from the top in the 2012-13 season. A year after winning a national title, the Wildcats were sent packing with a 59-57 loss at Robert Morris in the first round of the NIT Tuesday night...
Couldn't have happened to a nicer cheater...

Maybe the freshman want Cal to go after what he said.
I read the news today, oh boy .. ..
About a lucky man who made the grade
But, they will end up going pro to make cap room for the new kids.
Yeah, and the class he has coming in this the fall is maybe the best recruiting class of all time, definitely would be if Wiggins picks them. He has the #1PG #1SG #1C and #3SG coming in along with the #9 PF and another scrub for depth. They have 4 of the top 11 players and if Wiggins picks them they'd have 5 of the top 11 players including 4 of the top 6. Potentially 5 McDonald's AAs in 1 class and the top player at 4 out of the 5 positions.
Julius Randle, the best remaining available player other than Wiggins, announces at 1 pm today. UK, Kansas, Texas, Florida are finalists.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
And none of that guarantees anything.
Who will Calipari run off to make room for Wiggins or Randle? Too bad they have room for all of their current 2013 commits if only Noel leaves early.
That guarantees not enough balls to go around, the second they start losing or one of them drops behind the others in attention or shots or points, the egos will be bruised and the youngsters will act out.
Could you imagine if he lands both of them? That would give him 5 of the top 6 players and the #1 player at all 5 positions.
Which sort of happened this year, and sort of happened in the John Wall year.
With Noel and Mays leaving, I only see 6 scholarship guys coming back (and Hood may pull a graduate transfer). I don't see scholarships being an issue unfortunately. The big issue is that I'm sure Calipari promises all these kids that they'll be one and done lottery picks. Oops, Johnny boy. Hopefully kids start seeing that you aren't the rainmaker you claim, but that any Derrick Rose, Anthony Davis, etc. will be a one and done without you (and would have been a zero and done if the NBA allowed it).

Word on the street is that Cal's flying in urban liar and $aban as we speak for advice..
At Kentucky it's a players game just like the NBA.
Hard to imagine a coach with integrity and respect for his team making statements like Cal has this season. He's really blaming the kids for his shit coaching performance.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
I'm going to cheer when they have to take the banners down they 'won' last year.
Lets not associate Saban with this lower form of slime. Oh, and Calipari, .......BOO HOO.
Coach Cal$ and "his program" got everything they deserved this year... can't wait for a few more years when he is somehow exposed and leaves.
Bump. Julius Randle just announced that he is going to Kentucky. Their class next year will be touted by many as the best ever.
I believe we are about to see a disaster occur. They won't have room with current and new guys. I predict sitting back and eating popcorn watching this all go down within the next year.
There's a toilet in the kitchen!
Don't tell that to Jailin Rose.
It's going to be interesting to see if it gels with or without guys from this year's team staying.
I have a hard time thinking a guy like Alex Poythress would enjoy being the 8th man on that roster...and that's what he's looking at if they also bring in Wiggins like many think they will.
They are looking at potentially 7 Freshman at the top of their playing rotation,
I hope so. Although who knows, kids still know that playing for Cal is the easiest way to the NBA. Sure, they'd like to win something along the way... but the NBA is the goal.
I don't know the individual kids that are coming in and I'm not making any assumptions, but most of these highly regarded 5-stars probably don't really care who is already on the team ahead of them as they think they are good enough to play anyway.
Maybe Okafor / Jones / Cliff / etc. may see the logjam, but again... are any kids in the top 10 really scared about who is on the roster in front of them? Maybe James Young, as there are like 7 wings on the UK roster, but even then... he wants to play in the NBA after his 1 year and could probably get drafted on potential anyway.
edit: used "anyway" too much.

.@UKCoachCalipari Look on the bright side -- March Madness starts this weekend, such a fun time of year!
I'm actually glad Cal does this, it really points out how ridiculousness of the current rule requiring one year of college.
