I'd be happy to take his paycheck and get run out of town after a year.
He's being interviewed as a position coach. I'm sure he's a fine position coach, but he's a terrible offensive coordinator.
No one had any major problems with Roushar until he became the OC. He's not interviewing for the OC position for the Saints.
I offer my formal, unequivocal, and hearty recommendation of Dan Roushar to Saints management. Dan would be an asset to the Saints organization not only from the perspective of coaching brilliance, but, also his ability to find and develop talent. In my opinion, Saints' management would violate their duty of good faith to the organization by not hiring Dan, and they should proceed to offer him, without undue delay, whatever sum of money is required to secure his services.
Assistant position coach. Not Offensive Coordinator. Huge, and I mean HUGE difference.
We have had our struggles on Offense, but most of the people being hyper critical don't know jack. Calm down.
I think the jury is still out whether he is terrible or decent. He wasn't working with a competent QB last year.
@MikeValenti971: @RicoBeard @ChrisVannini Ill drive Roushar there in a limo , prep his note cards. Knock it out dan, I'd take a build a bear for OC over him
I suggest all of you heathens start praying.
I'd like to see people's realistic candidates for his replacement.
Maybe you are the one who doesn't know jack, Mookie!
tRCMB needs to be smart about this. There should be a coordinated effort to make it look like we're melting down about his potential departure. Look back to the Narduzzi-to-A&M legit meltdown for guidance on how to sell this. Make the Saints think we can't bear to part with him.
Belichick or bust
Fun fact; I called every MSU offensive play correctly in their first three series against Wisconsin
Now, if a college kid that had been drinking can predict Roushars play calling, what do you think a paid defensive coordinator can do?
A. Traffic cone
B. Johnny Spirit
C. Steve Mariucci
Assuming the Saints can read so.... Don't leave Dan, this team is nothing without your superior development of running backs! OMG this would be terrible for us.
Sigh. There are dozens of examples of elite coordinators not being able to cut it as head coaches. Does that mean that they don't know X's & O's or are very skilled at one part of football? Not at all. Usually, those failed head coaches go back to being coordinators & have a lot of success doing what they are good at.
Same scenario applies to Roushar...
He may be a very good position coach, but is in over his head as coordinator. Just because you know football doesn't mean you can be a coordinator. Same applies at the next level. Just because you can be a great OC, doesn't mean you will be a good HC. Wade Phillips comes to mind. Rock solid defensive mind didn't have success as a HC, but now that he's back to being a DC, his talent is once again showing.
The saints brought him in for an interview because they view him as a good position coach. Maybe his football talent will once again show as a position coach because it's damn well not showing as a coordinator.
This applies to every profession out there. Some can cut it with more responsibilities, others cant.
Does Roushar have a linked in Page? We should up his endorsements and write recommendations about his abilities.
Yesterday I thought I read Brad Salem was being interviewed for the same job. Are I confused?
Go get it Dan! We believe in you!
"If you're worried about Wolverine fans, just move to Pasadena. You'll never have to deal with 'em."
Not sure what happened there. I'm guessing a rumor got out that an MSU coach was interviewing for the Saints RB gig and people naturally assumed Salem and ran with it. The thing with Twitter is that most reporters don't do any fact checking anymore because everyone wants to break the story first.
Diversity hiring candidate?
So basically you think coaching a group of RB's and calling plays are the same thing then?
