Because he's actually a pretty good RB coach.
Or vice versa?
And you're basing that off what, two years of coaching RBs at Illinois?
People seem to forget that Dan was a very good position coach, so far not a great coordinator but I think he would do great in another position coach gig, guy is a spartan and I wish him the best!!
With that said, Enos come on down!!!
He could teach the Saints how to run it up the middle in no time.
Look, Dantonio has kept him around and we had one of the worst QBs in MSU history starting last year. Now the NFL is interested in him. I get that a lot of people don't like him here, but people who are actually involved in football have confidence in him. That has to speak for something.
It speaks to him being a good RB coach.
Not a good OC
So what's the Saint's timeline here? How long until we find out if this is a thing?
i wish Dan the VERY best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dantonio had no problems booting Gill, so why would he keep someone he thinks is ineffective? Do you know more than Dantonio?

Calling out a run or pass doesn't count.
"This is how you run the football, guys!"
Moose, these same group of people were probably also calling for Treadwell's head, and saying Duzzi doesnt know crap and blitzes too much. Career seems to be working out ok for both of those guys.
Roushar struggled last year with a group of inexperienced receivers (ineffective/can't catch), and a QB who struggled heavily in his first year. Not to mention an O Line that was not healthy and started a ton of different combos.
Last years offense was like a perfect storm. If we make a few special teams plays, or a catch a couple breaks, we are a completely different team. Maybe the O get more confidence, and starts executing on their promise.
Its not like Roushar has not shown he can call good plays and run an offense with players who run routes correctly, a QB who can throw a good ball, a more experienced offensive line, etc.
And for those same bozos who say it was all because of Kirk.....i'm guessing you were probably also the one's, when he was struggling, saying he was a MAC level QB, pooped his pants on the field, couldn't make an accurate throw, etc.
2 questions for you, both yes or no. This is what you think not what you think Dantonio thinks. It's what you believe personally.
If given the chance to keep Roushar or get rid of him, would you?
Do you believe that Roushar can win this team a Rose Bowl?
You do a lot of guessing & assuming then.
I would keep him one more year and assess. I don't think he's great right now, but this is what him going into his 3rd full year on the job? Part of it could be growing pains and part of it was the QB. If he doesn't get the job done this year then yes you do have to look at replacing him.
Not sure. No OC has done that at MSU in 25 years.
The I owa game was not about talent. It was about Roushar trying to throw the ball all over the field in a downpour
This is going to go down like Lucy pulling the ball from Charlie Brown at the last moment. The frustraion of Roushar not getting the Saints job will be epic.

Oh okay, so it's okay to assess his job after 3 years, but after 2 years people are loons for suggesting such a thing. I get it now. Sigh.
Difference is, I am making an educated based on past results. Lets lay this out:
When we had a solid college QB, good receivers, and a somewhat healthy OLine, our offense was good, and was a play away from the Rose Bowl.
When we had a subpar college QB, inexperienced receivers who can't catch or run a proper route, and OLine that was hurt all year, our offense was bad.
Roushar was OC in both instances...
So, do you blame it all on Roushar and say he should be fired and can't do his job? OR... Do you ook at past results, and make an educated GUESS that he may have future success given the variables we have identified above.
You tell me...

One of the biggest mistakes a company makes is promoting the best technician into being a manager without really considering if they have the latter skill set. Just because they are extremely competent and work very hard in a certain focused setting does not automatically translate into being able to run a team.
