Not sure how you fairly split home and away games in a 9 game conference schedule.
This is way too smart for Delany.
was it fair that MSU gets shut out of a BCS game two years ago? sometimes the team will have an extra away game, that just extra adversity (and probably would have been good for MSU this year considering their record).
Im not a fan of the 9 game schedule, but if it means 4 pods over 2 divisions I will take it.

Can someone explain why 16 is a magic number? Why not just keep adding teams? Does the NCAA allow a four-team playoff for 16-team conferences?
thats exactly how i had it set up.
Keeps MSU in the Chicago area (something Hollis already stated is very important), and if they can petition to have Maryland/Rutgers to be a rival they will have a presence in the NY/DC area.
it didn't take much for the Big 12 to petition the NCAA for a conference championship game even though they didn't have 12 members, so I can't imagine they run into much resistance.

"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
It's inevitable that the B1G logo is going to wind up like this, right?

So, M.I.T. and University of Chicago turned the Big Ten down?
16 teams is what Delany originally said in 2009 when he started the whole conference expansion game. If ND decides to join the B10 (unlikely) we could end up at 18 or 20. I say screw ND as they are not AAU and won't give up their TV rights. They don't really have anything to offer other than national fame. This is about money and not fame. Plus they have denied us twice.
I'd support it. I like Ga Tech a lot more than the last two added.
Just call us the BIX

I wonder if the Spartan bar I sill in Atlanta. It was called Jocks and Jills.
The Big 12 has a conference championship game?
In what sport?
I could be wrong I guess, but i am pretty sure at one point before TCU and WVU was added the Big 12 was at 11 teams and the NCAA said they could have a CCG.
Down here in virginia (I'm originally from Grand Rapids) at the UVA basketball game ... The UVA AD and assistant AD are not in attendance. Something is going on!
I'm still bitter.
Could that something be apathy?
Um they have 11 and don't play one.
"Apathy" ... Don't us fancy words I live in the south now! Lol
In all seriousness ... Could be. They are pretty serious about there basketball in the ACC though!
They almost always attend.
The PAC12, SEC, and B1G are all going to be 16 team conferences and push to move to 12 conference games. 12 conference games will be the death of the NCAA when the PAC12, SEC, and B1G commissioners sit down in a room and look at the pile of money the NCAA gets and come up with a playoff between their respective conferences that includes crowing a national champion.
The B1G doesn't have many options left for schools to bring in that aren't in one of the 3 stable conferences. Kansas, Texas, GT, Virginia, Iowa State, and ND.
A French guy has confirmed it
UNC, and to a lesser extent Duke and BC too. I doubt we would try to pluck teams from the Big 12 seeing as I think we want that conference to survive.
Duke and BC are private. Delany said he wants the largest public schools.
B12 has the deal where all TV proceeds go back to the B12 for what was it 13 years if a B12 team leaves so Kansas or Texas are a stretch.
I think this is a three horse race ... UVA, GTech and NC for the last two spots.
