Edit 1: Apparently they're now saying that they will not have an official word today. They're going to fly Griffin to see Dr. Andrews. Shanahan says they want to make sure the MRI isn't just picking up the old injuries on the MRI.
Official word is supposed to come out later in the afternoon. Lots of chatter on twitter that it's an ACL tear and that RG3 could miss a lot of time next season.
If RG3 is out for next year, do you think that Kirk gets the start, or does he have to battle Grossman again?

I would think Cousins gets the start but I also would have thought a coach would bench RG3 when he was hobbling all over the field.
Well it sure looked like an ACL tear. And who are the internet doctors assuming he'll miss a lot of time next year? Didn't we just see a case in AP where he tore his ACL around the same time and was back to start week 1?
I just hear ACL and PCL, gone for 2013. Will miss a full season. Cousins can make himself a mint next year.
And AP is being hailed as a total freak for accomplishing that.
Edit: Then again, Dawson pulled off a freak recovery too. Maybe RG3 will too.
didn't rg3 already rip his acl twice in college?
The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.
Dawson didn't have swelling, allowing for a quick turnaround for surgery. I'm guessing RG3 had plenty of swelling well before the injury. But we'll see what people who are doctors and aren't guessing say.
Lol. Yeah, could pretty much tell that from the way his leg bent.

Doc James Andrews, ya know, best in the biz, skins team doctor, guy who performed ap's surgery, that is the guy that called ap's recovery freakish. The other 99.9% of athletes that suffer that injury are not back that quickly, and are not near 100% till around year 2. Love the optimism though.
I know at least once he played on one. I wouldn't be surprised if he did that again yesterday.
Everyone knew RG3 would be fragile. Kudos to Washington for drafting Cousins as a great insurance policy.
Is this the same acl rg3 blew out in college?
If true, Shanahan should be fired on the spot. He was playing Russian roulette with the franchise player.
I doubt they bring Grossman back. They'll have to bring a veteran though.
Apparently RGIII said he knew what an ACL tear feels like and it wasn't that. Though stranger things have happened where an athlete walked off the field and actually had a tear. Hope that's not the case.
Cousins didn't get any favors from the receivers on his few passes.
Too bad that Cousins didn't get to finish off the game and RGIII was thrown in there again. It would have been epic to see a Cousins vs. Wilson showdown again but during the NFL playoffs.
If the Redskins were playing next week, Shanahan would still try to get ACL-impaired RG3 in there.
I surmise that his MCL is gone. Probably amoung other things.
Grossman is not going to start if KC is still on the roster next year.
There was never a doubt this season that KC was #2 and Grossman was #3.
I just checked twitter and I follow quite a few sports folks, and saw zero mentions of it. Care to post any of the ones you're seeing?
Cousins doesn't have to worry about Grossman. Nickles, on the other hand...
Not Twitter, but there are a few sports media outlets running similar "maybe" stories about it:
