it would appear his machine has effectively squashed the rumor/fact.
Yes!!! That is it! I am glad you solved the case. I never realized that no other public figure before Clinton had an affair and then got away with it through lying, deception, or cover-ups.
Also, can you get me a copy of this playbook? I have been meaning to bang a couple of chicks on the side, but I was worried I was going to need to abdicate my porcelain throne. Thanks in advance.
I don't know about his machine... But some dude on a Bama website is laughing his ass off
Except, on your porcelain throne, you are neither on the seat of power nor prestige. You see, people have to care. . . . Then the hypocrite emerges.
Besides, are you joking? Did I say Clinton was the first one? Haaaa, haaaaaaa, ughhhhh, haaaaaaaaaaaa, haaaaaaa. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Ohhhhh. Okay. Here's the deal. You're fine with these folks pulling your chain, playin' you "the fool" because they know they can. You will give them cover for their scam and define the standard for deviancy down and down and down again. It's okay with you.
So, when I hear accepting this conduct is "evolutionary," it's nonsense, like playing the race card to shut people up. People like this deserve to lose their office, their power, and their prestige. Having said that if Weiner's constituants want to re-elect him, fine. But it shouldn't be on the grounds that what he did wasn't reprehensible. In the end, you get the government you deserve.
It is the seat of power in my house.
In your opinion, should Thomas Jefferson have lost the presidency because he slept with his slave?
George Bush did a little coke and got a DUI...should he not have been allowed to be President? If an absence of mistakes is a prerequisite for public office, then every seat in the US would be vacant. We need to judge them on an individual basis. Bush's past party lifestyle didn't bother me at all. Clinton banging chicks in office was very, very borderline (although, again, to suggest that he wrote the playbook on covering it up is laughable). Nixon's transgressions were obviously too much.
To say, "you had an affair, you need to leave office" doesn't always fit. Sometimes it does. I bet you have a hard time getting off your horse.
Unless you are a Mike Bloomberg type who has wide name recognition and billions of dollars so he can avoid the usually necessary grass roots stuff then one must recognize getting elected to many offices sucks big time and turns away many candidates. Not many people want to knock on doors after work and the weekend. Not many can articulate actual policy positions. Fund raising sucks for most.
Clinton's problem is that he (and his wife) are pathological liars and he is an abuser of women.
GW's drug history should and was not a disqualification - lack of intelligence should have been.
TJ? Well, yes it should have disqualified him because again it shows abuse of power.
Guys - seriously. Take the Clinton Bush bullshit elsewhere.
it now that there's no legs to the story.

Here's the deal: When someone in a position of authority or prestige abuses that power it matters. When the person engages in private behavior you disapprove of, it doesn't matter.
Do you grasp the difference? Are you capable of understanding the difference between what is your business and what is NOT your business? It's shocking how many people believe that private consensual actions are public business that must be judged and punished.
This is the United States. People have freedom here. Sometimes they will use that freedom in ways you don't like. Get over it and get over yourself.
