From what I can tell lately the Mods have just given up.
You really think your up vote is important? Holy mother of god.
Keeping the sunshiners in check since 2000.
Ouch that down vote hurt me. Lol
I have no doubt he is a good shooter. It's hard to find a rhythm when you don't get consistent minutes. What I can't tolerate is all the careless mistakes he makes. That shit drives me up the wall.
Russell, you are playing for one of the best programs in the nation and have a scholarship to do it. You are living the dream that all of us wish we could accomplish. Just relax and have fun and work hard. Enjoy it and appreciate it. Good things will happen soon.

Thank you, Denicos.
I wonder if he would have played this year if he did not get hurt.
Yeah everyone here has said "you'll get your shot back! keep up the good work!"
But his passing/defense have been just as atrocious. Hopefully it is all in his head because he's got some work to do. Hope he does find his groove though.
Good luck Byrd. Go out there and have fun. In the end, its just a game. Real Spartan fans are pulling for you.
After losing Kearny, Byrd becomes even more important. Hopefully he can step up and be a consistent, solid 5-10 minute contributor
Its five o'clock somewhere.
Honestly what else was he going to do?? Transfer somewhere else and not get a scholarship??? GVSU
edit: thanks for the downvote from the four people who cant handle the truth.

Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. - Groucho Marx
Kebler was a great defender.
He probably would have most true freshmen don't RS in basketball unless injuries of course.
Most of us can keep two opposing thoughts in our heads at once: (1)Byrd seems like a good kid, he's a Spartan, should be supported, and doesn't deserve the abuse he has received and (2)he has no business being on the court right now, other than spot minutes and garbage time.
Surely this is uncontroversial?
Love it! Kid will work his way through the slump and become a fan favorite before it's all over...and hte Tpains of the world can kiss his ass. Gutless turds calling him worthless make me sick.
you remember how bad denzel was at that at the beginning of the year. he was a turnover and bad mistake machine. It's come down a lot as he's gotten more minutes. He just needs a lot of minutes to work out the growing pains. Unfortunately big ten season isn't time for that
Wow. Those guys worked hard and played outstanding defense. The only thing Byrd has in common with them is that he's a white guy.
He's also much more talented than Byrd. They have different games. MSU needs a guy like Valentine to dIstribute the ball. Byrd just doesn't have a role on the team. He provides almost nothing.
Staying here is his only option. Nobody will take him. He needs to drastically improve his game.
The thing they have in common is that at some point you jokers were calling for izzo to bench them because you thought they were a liability. Eventually each one of them turned it around. Are you saying someone can't work on their defense and turn it around?
Insert Russell Byrd Dat Ass meme.
A man's gotta eat!
he can't have a role right now because we can't afford it. That doesn't mean he won't in the future. The kid can flat out shoot the ball. He will get it together. He's had a rough start to his career but the injuries I think really set him back. He's a tough kid, don't sleep on him just yet.
Sadly, this is the truth. Lucky for Byrd, he has a coach who will continue to renew his scholarship.
I got your back.
Thing is, he contributes less as a sophomore than Thornton or Dahlman did. Then on the other hand, Byrd actually DID improve from last year. His first 5-6 games this year were miles ahead, defensively and with ball movement, of where he was as a freshman.
So there's some hope there, but also reason to keep Byrd's senior expectations for him way below Thornton and LOL wayyy below Diebler.
