Lots of crying over the fact that they only got 3 teams in. Their coaches are whining that they're not a mid-major.
SEC donors can't afford to pay for players for both football and basketball.
the SEC wishes they could have achieved mid-major quality this season.
"SEC schools went a combined 15-33 against the other five major conferences and had losing records against each of them: 3-6 against the Atlantic Coast Conference, 2-5 against the Big 12, 4-13 against the Big East, 2-4 against the Big Ten, 4-5 against the Pac-12."
That's all you need to know.
This is a Pallas’s cat. Their round pupils give them an odd human quality. They disturb me...deeply.
Oh, I absolutely love it. There's a good reason they're being treated like a mid-major. Same with the Pac-12 to an extent (tons of unwarranted whining about Oregon's seeding). The other conferences don't seem to understand that you can't load up the non-con with the worst cream puffs and still get respected overall for your league play. There are no formal BCS conferences or post-season privileges in basketball.
It's the NCAA football mentality where perception and tradition is more the focus than the actual results of the game, applied to NCAA basketball postseason where results are more in focus.
It just doesn't work in the NCAA's basketball model. The NCAA should work to limit perception in CFB too...they just don't have the power to do so.
They shouldn't have sucked so bad. Problem solved.
That's pretty much the gist of it.
They sucked all regular season, and are now upset that the "SEC Brand" was not enough to get them special treatment in the postseason like it does in football.
Yeah it's ironic that most SEC schools (sans Kentucky) schedule basketball like they do football and expect the "perception" of playing each other in the SEC to carry them. It is too bad it doesn't work in football that way.
Boom. Truth. Win some games losers.
Hmm, let's see...
Florida is decent, but nowhere near great. One dimensional team that struggles against good competition.
Calipari's coaching job this year was atrocious. Pretty much as bad as Roy Williams in 2010.
Ole Miss' best player is a pot/coke/meth fiend whose shot selection makes DJ Byrd look disciplined.
Alabama lost back-to-back games to Mercer and Tulane. They beat some dude named Lamar though.
Tennessee didn't start acting like they gave a shit until February.
Missouri's OOC schedule looks like it was made for a team of 7th grade girls. With no legs.
I think that just about covers the top half of that garbage pile of a league.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
Quite frankly 3 was a friggin gift. They probably deserved 2.
I was very surprised to hear the committee chair say that Ole Miss was a lock even before they won the SEC title game.
These jackasses sure love to dish out the "hard truth" to conferences like the B1G during football season but can't come to grips with the fact that they're not even a mid major when it comes to BB. A team like Dayton or Creighton would run wild in the SEC.
If you could strip cfb of the 'perception' aspect it would make the conclusion of the season more exciting.
As it is you have cobwebbed old dinosaur programs like UofM and Notre Dame getting propped up every year by 'perception'.
SEC was garbage this year and the bubble teams that missed didn't deserve to make the tournament, end of story.
UK: 4-5 after losing Noel
UT: very mediocre, terrible start
Bama: didn't beat anyone, horrible losses to Mercer and Auburn
