Per Capita income is $1300/yr?
That is almost enough to cover my cable and internet bill!
it's no fruitport, mi.
It's got that going for it.
Population density is an important variable, but fairly meaningless unless used in context with other important variables. How big is Fremont? How big is the Ganges delta? I'll take your word on the pop density similarities. So, Fremont has about 200,000 people living at 1000 people per sq mile, the Ganges delta has about 400 MILLION.
What are the relative risks to food security in the two places? Governance and institutions? Infrastructure? Disaster preparedness and response capacity?
Try harder, Adm Troll.
I must be crazy to be in a loony bin like this.
1. Many people from Bangladesh are very dark skinned. But who knows about that particular pic.
2. Did you just compare an entire continent to a single country? That doesn't make much sense. Africa is composed of over 50 nations. Some doing OK, some doing not so good. Look at recent events in Congo, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Somalia, etc, etc, etc... and get back to me.
apologies if I missed sarcasm.

Hey Malthusian man. It's a funny funny book. Read it sometime and get a little perspective. The doom and gloom crowd need to take a chill pill.
All the Trouble in the World: The Lighter Side of Overpopulation, Famine, Ecological Disaster, Ethnic Hatred, Plague, and Poverty [P. J. ORourke once again landed on best-seller lists around the country
Both of you need to stop it. The spammers don't want to have to follow this thread to freaking Wells.
I would like to upvote your post, but I used all my upvotes on the spammers.
I think every IT guy at Dell lives in Bangladesh
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
I know. I was just adding a little humor to the thread and the wet blanket of Wells had to critique my humorous addition. I think a group denunciation and hazing of RP is in order....who's with me? heyaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh.........yeahhhhhhhhhhh!

Congratulations on knowing a lot of nice things about Bangladesh.
They're great ship breakers.

The word "Bangladesh" is pretty fun to say.
this is easy.
Rabindranath Tagore wrote his poems in the Bengali dialect. He was from the region around Calcutta. At that time Calcutta was part of British India. Today Kolkata (Calcutta) is in India while much of the Ganges delta and the people who share its culture live to the East in Bangladesh.
Tagore won the Nobel prize for literature in 1913, and is considered one of the intellectual fathers of Indian (and by extension Pakistani/Bangladeshi) Independence. While opposed to resisting British power and even breaking with the Raj completely, Tagore significantly gave Gandhi his blessing in 1941.
Tagore wrote the Indian national anthem.
This came from Bangladesh....

Situation sucks. They are trying to right the wrongs from their civil war/war of independence with Pakistan back in the 70's. People guilty of war crimes are being punished, but of course their supporters are pissed.
