The guy's got the best job in the world, and it's just torture. How he doesn't get T'ed up and kicked out with these utter boobs of officials he has to cope with, I don't know. And this team sure doesn't make things easy on him. I hope he enjoys it.

Vim -- noun: robust energy and enthusiasm : VITALITY
The refs let the boys play tonight. That usually helps the road team. We wouldn't have survived a bunch of quick whistles tonight.
I didn't feel that way... did you see the Minny-Illinois game last night? THAT was a Big Ten game. I didn't notice who was officiating, which is exactly the way it should be.
Of course, jim burr is such an oddity of science that I have a hard time tearing my eyes away from him.
Kind of an oxymoron there
Iowa shot 0 FT's in the first half.
I didn't see many phantom fouls in the 2nd. Don't know how it could be called much looser.
Fran should have been T'd up on that rant late in the second half.
iowa wasn't getting a lot of FTs b/c they weren't going inside. I saw a LOT of ticky-tack calls on Payne and Dawson. They rang up Dawson for two fouls in a row at the beginning of the second half, one for a hand-check at the top of the key, the other b/c that big white goon bounced off his solid pick and hit the floor. Because of that, we have to sit our most aggressive player and play Byrd. It's not just about FTs. I also didn't think they were very consistent.
Listen, I've seen much worse reffing in the BT, but that leaves a wide margin for suckitude.
He gets paid a fortune and lives the life of a king.
Could quit tomorrow and never have to lift a finger again
He does what he does because he likes what he does. Most every single successful person is exactly like that.... They love what they do.... That's a big reason they are good at it.
He had a rant in the first half, too. That guy looks like an utter prick to play for. It's like if you put all of bobby knight's temper and none of his basketball knowledge into George Will.
Salary probably helps.
I must be crazy to be in a loony bin like this.
I think part of why you didn't notice the officials in the Minnesota Illinois game is you didn't have a horse in the race. What's kinda funny is the announcers were complaining in that game that the officials were calling ticky tack fouls that had no impact on the play.
The officials definitely didn't hurt us in tonight's game.
Not NEARLY as much as we hurt ourselves. But that doesn't mean it was a picnic for Izzo.
The refs seemed pretty good tonight - of course, that may be because we were the beneficiaries*. There were a few questionable calls, but pretty good overall.
*See how it's done, scUM?
It was a road game in the Big Ten and the other team didn't get 18 more points in free-throws than we did; I'm counting my blessings and sticking the road-win in my pocket.
The constant bitching about refs is probably the biggest liability/ stupidity this board has.
And that I realize is a monumental award, considering the stupid that can run rampant on here
Yeah, it must suck to be paid millions to coach the game of basketball.

After your Wells thread on Agent Greer you really have no business running your keyboard about stupid on this site.

It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
I thought the officiating was terrible.
The only thing I ask for is consistency, which we got none of tonight.
"Stats are for Losers." - Pat "Nardawg" Narduzzi
I'm so sick and tired of the refs bias against us. Seriously, why do we never get any fucking calls! I bet MSU opponents outshoot free throws on us 2 to 1
Jim Burr is too old to be reffing basketball. Half his fouls (maybe more) are him blowing the whistle because he can't keep up. I don't care how the foul or free throw differential turns out at the end of the game. If a ref is calling fouls to slow things down, he has no place in the game.

agree 100%, that was classic when he put the ball in play when the other 2 officials were over at the scoring table trying to sort out an issue.
I agree that things look inconsistent, but I really wonder how much of it is make-up calls. Refs call what they see as 50/50 one way and then flip the next time. The refs don't have the benefit of slow motion replay.
Why don't you kick rocks, you are an obvious troll. I haven't seen any of your comments add anything of any substance as of yet. And you most certainly are'nt funny.
There's a grand conspiracy, all sports - you haven't heard?
Each team had 17 fouls, at least it wasn't lopsided.
